Meng has released several photos of their new Abrams through AK Interactive.
The kit seems ready to launch as everything is there: the box, all sprues, instructions, crisp details and a good number of parts.

Details such as workable track links are included and look very similar in design to the Bronco Models product.

Another nice thing to see is a good number of clear parts, and of course not forgetting the photo etch offerings.

The only down side I can see at this point is that the barrel is in two halves and will likely be a pig to work with, a turned metal barrel would have been a good inclusion here.

Otherwise it all looks sweet at the moment.

And we also used to drive Ford Pintos and before that Chevrolet Impalas, and had black and white TV's, but that should not led us to be satisfied today with the standards of those ages... Technology also evolved -a lot- in the scale modelling world, so it is not wrong to keep asking manufacturers to go a step further. And yes, the current and always increasing prices open the door to customers to be more demanding than ever. If you are OK with two-part gun barrels, good for you and be happy; I completely understand people who ask for easier to build and better manufactured parts. Why shouldn't they? Thanks to manufacturers who go one step further and more demanding customers we've seen the most impressive advances within the last couple of decades, and I'm sure it is a good thing. On the other hand, without that spirit we may be still driving cars without AC, GPS or even without automatic window openers... And perhaps building kits with the same accuracy and details than the vintage Renwall ones.

Whatever shown so far looks pretty good except the two piece barrel. Like others, it's a bit of hassle. Dragon's recent M1 offerings had a 7-piece barrel assembly (NOT two), which had great details like no other. I guess most of us expected something par or better from Meng.

What in this case means ten years old already[/quote] Wow, 10 yrs already?! Time surely flies. Still stacks up pretty well against most of new kits out recently.

My Meng Abrams kit from HobbyEasy just showed up in Kentucky today! Looks interesting. A week ahead of travel for work, then I can peek at the kit in more detail over the weekend.

I wanted to share a couple of photos of the Meng Abrams and I compare it here with the Dragon Abrams #3535 kit. I am impressed by the anti skid texture on the Meng as it seems reasonable from what little I have walked on. I also tried swapping the turrets from the Dragon DML 3535 and the Meng hull hole is slightly larger in diameter. I think it will take some work to swap out from the DML kit turret to the Meng and vice versa. I could not get either set of tabs on the turrets to key into the hull of the other kit. Meng Abrams are the tan parts, and DML is the gray here...

Wanted to show the cross matching of the Meng turret and the DML #3535 turret... DML turret ring in gray in the Meng tan hull and the other way the tan Meng turret ring in the gray DML hull Again the Meng hole is larger in diameter than the DML and it will take some rework to mix and match turrets
