If you were to paint the uniforms brown and lose the gas masks, could they pass as early WWII, to augment Dragon's set of WWII French infantry?

Reminds me of the movie"Paths of Glory".

Nicely animated, great for a scene with the 1/35 French tanks out there and there is nothing tying them to just 1916-18.

really like the detail and posses, I think ICM done a good job on this one, I vision a diorama in the near future!

I think the basic uniform could pass, but keep in mind the WWII adrian helmet was simplified and does not have the pronounced ridge around the lower shell. they war three small, square ammo pouches (2 in front, one in back). The 1937 model pouches were rectangular, with two connected pouches, and came in a mirror left and right pair. In late WWI the french carried a 2-liter canteen with two spouts (one a vent). In WWII there was only one spout. In WWI the haversack carried on the left hip was small and plain (like the breadbag carried by the Germans in both wars). It was replaced by the 1935 musette bag which had two large external pockets with separate flaps. The 1893 backpack was canvas stretched over a small wooden frame. The 1935 model had a top (sac superior) which had large side pockets and a lower pack. (not always carried). WWI M2 gas masks were carried in a rectangular can or a soft satchel. ARS masks where carried in a round cylinder. WWII masks were carried in a large bag, similar to a small box respirator. I have seen photos of troops from Frances colonies in 1940 still wearing WW1 gear and carrying either the lebel or berthier rifles.

The feet seem to be getting better...
