ModellTrans Modellbau has launched four new small scale Japanese tanks. There is a Type 98 plus other less common light tanks.
The Type 98 Ke-Ni was a light tank intended to replace the Type 95 Ha-Go, but only 104 were produced. Armed with a 37mm gun, it was lighter and better armored than the Type 95.
There was also a Mitsubishi experimental variant of the Type 98 with Christie suspension, but it never went into production.
The Ta-Se was the anti-aircraft version of the Type 98, carrying a 20mm gun. Only one prototype was built.
The Type 2 Ke-To was an improvement of the Type 98, of which only 34 units were produced and never saw combat. It was armed with a Type 1 37 mm gun and a 7.7 mm machine gun.
All these models are now available in resin at 1/72 from ModellTrans Modellbau.
