True Earth's range of SDW paints is extended now with new filters and washes. See here the main features of these products.
According to the information from True Earth, the new filter & wash inherit the already excellent quality of the previous Transparent Filters, in a new even more workable formulation.

The main features are:
  • True Earth’s FILTER & WASH are real filters. While all other filters or washes on the market are formulated with a milled pigment dissolved in a binder, the "coloring" agent of True Earth’s FILTER & WASH is a very fine resin, formulated specifically to let the light shine through, gradually altering the colors without suffocating them.
  • Versatility. As filters, as washes, for leaks and streaks. By brush or airbrush. And for delicate color modulations, lights and shadows, with a method of post-shading, convenient and fast especially on camouflaged vehicles or painted in various colors.
  • Pleasant to use, a long workability time thanks to True Earth’s exclusive SDW technology.
  • No solvents, odourless, a just-water formulation.
  • Purity. No residue thanks to the all resin formulation, Use them to the last drop.
  • They are not aggressive, and they can be spread on any sort of paint without a protective clear varnish.
  • Extremely flowy into airbrush, without ever clogging the nozzle.
  • Extremely fast cleaning of airbrush and brush, with water only.
  • Long life of the fresh product in the palette, even for hours depending on the amount. If thickened they can be restored with a bit of water.
  • Adjustable drying time, which allows easy retouches and softer feathering.
  • Easily removable within hours from application just with soapy water.

Hmm... I just might try these- I was never a fan of heavy washes and filters, because they tend to obscure and IMO, ruin the original colors of a well-modulated, airbrushed finish. I've heard and read all kinds of claims from other manufacturers, extolling their latest products' miraculous virtues, but as many times as not, their claims are found to be wanting... If I don't like the results, they will only find limited use in my modelling efforts. Judging from what TRUE EARTH's company propaganda lists as the "advantages" in using these products, I think they're probably worth a try. At least the photos look good; subtle, not garishly obvious... If, for any reason it turns out that I don't like these new filters & washes, you guys will be the first to know about it...

I have an earlier set, and it's not cut-and-dry to use them. I'm still not sure how best utilise these products. You must have an absolutely flat surface, otherwise it will form droplets. By brush it's not very easy to apply well. So far the best I could do is with an airbrush. But I'm trying... perhaps I'll do a post once I nailed it down. (The tutorials online were not very helpful.)

Hi, Andras! Did you apply the washes over a gloss coat or a flat coat? Washes will form droplets on a gloss coat, rather than flowing easily into recesses, etc, as they would with a flat coat...

I use a flat undercoat; nevertheless I suspect I would have to experiment with additives to lower the surface tension. The absolutely flat tamiya paints give results that can be called adequate.
