Truly a wide array of subjects in 1/72 scale are lined-up for IBG Models’ December release.
A couple of these kits were announced as early as February this year, during the Nuremberg Toy Fair, and now finally up for release. From IBG Models’ site:
72031 Otter Light Reconnaissance Car
The Otter Light Reconnaissance Car was a light armored car produced by General Motors Canada during the Second World War for British and Commonwealth. The Otter was based on the Chevrolet C15 Canadian Military Pattern truck chassis and used many standard GM components. The armament consisted of a hull-mounted Boys anti-tank rifle and a Bren light machine gun in a small open-topped turret. Between 1942 and 1945, 1761 units were produced in Oshawa, Ontario. The Otter served with Canadian units in the Italian Campaign and Northwest European operations. It was also employed by the Polish, Czechoslovakian and South African units and the British RAF Regiment.
72032 Chevrolet C60S with Holmes Breakdown
The Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck was a class of military truck - of various forms - made in large numbers in Canada during World War II to British Army specifications for use in the armies of the British Commonwealth allies. Most CMP trucks were manufactured by the Chevrolet division of General Motors of Canada Ltd. and by Ford Motor Company of Canada. Just over 500,000 CMP trucks were manufactured in Canada, accounting for roughly two-thirds of the 815,729 military vehicles made in Canada during World War II. CMP truck production in Canada exceeded the total military truck production of Nazi Germany.
72034 Stridsvagn m/39 Swedish Light Tank
Stridsvagn L-60 was a Swedish light tank produced in 1934, and later upgraded to Stridsvagn m/38, m/39, m/40K and m/40L versions. These tanks started the service in Swedish Army in 1939. Famous Hungarian light tank Toldi was based on a largely modified, licensed Stridsvagn m/38. Stridsvagn Tanks we also sold to Ireland (2) and after World War II to Dominican Republic (20), where the m/40L version served in the Dominican Civil War of 1965.
72037 Type 89 Japanese Medium tank Kou (Gasoline Early)
Japanese Type 89 Medium Tanks serial production began in 1931. It entered service in Japanese Imperial Army one year later, in 1932, and soon became the main tank of it. It required a crew of 4. Its armament consisted of Type 90 57mm gun and 2 Type 91 6,5mm machine guns. Final production version of Type 89 tank - „OTSU” was the first mass produced tank with a diesel engine in the world. Type 89 tanks of different versions saw action in the Second Sino-Japanese War, in the Khalkhin Gol battle against Soviet Union and in Second World War. It proved to be a very effective against Chinese forces but was already obsolete by the time of Khalkhin Gol and battles against Allies in the Pacific theater of WWII.
IBG Models will have these kits available by first half of December.
