VMS presents their new products for creating anti-slip surfaces on tanks and AFV's in a realistic way.
Hull-Tex is a bundle and consist of a bottle of special non volatile cement and micronised aggregate (texture).
The product can be used for creating very realistic realistic aggregate-based anti-slip textures as seen on modernised variants of M1 Abrams or Merkava tanks.
The product comes in two variants:
The application process is similar to real life ant-slip creation procedure. In case of “standard” type the modeller needs to apply the glue wherever he wants the anti-slip to appear, sprinkle the aggregate over, and remove the excess using a sweeping motion with a bigger brush.
This way one can paint precise shapes with the glue, for instance make a perfect circle on a tank's hatch and then sprinkle the aggregate for a perfect coverage – the aggregate will stick to an exact area.
Open time of applied glue is around 2-3 min.
Application for “scattered” type is similar but the technique differs, we apply the glue, sprinkle some material but do not sweep the area, just use a precision brush to position the aggregate wherever we see fit and wait for the glue to dry.
“Scattered” type does not react with plastic so we can freely move the aggregate grains around, open time is high around 1h.
Hull Tex is a great alternative to stippling and styrene glue techniques - it offers much better and accurate detail as the texture you will be able to create is an actual small scale anti-slip not just an imitation of it.
