AFV Modeller makes available its Maybach engine upgrade kit for the big-scale Trumpeter Panzerkampfwagen IV.
AFV Modeller’s Maybach HL 120 TRM Engine (#18695) is a highly detailed kit designed to fit all Trumpeter 1/16 Panzer IV kits. Cast in resin, the kit contains 36 parts, and detailed assembly instructions. A presentation case is included to complete the offering.

Will it cost less if it comes in a cardboard box?

I wish they would downsize it to 1/35th as there aren't enough engines available for all the kits with separate engine hatches.

Easier said than done. The basic lump was 3D printed, which has limitations with regards to minimum wall thicknesses, etc. It's not just a question of rescaling the model as some of the detail would be too thin and would need thickening up. Obviously, this may then make those parts overscale. Ian

In their FB page, AFV Modeller wrote they could do one in 1/35. A bit more urging from the community may probably get it to our workbenches one of these days.

Actually I take that back. The original is like a square lump. Not what I'd expect of 1/35 let alone 1/16

I'm all in favour for more engines in 1/35. I'd really like to see the air-cooled aircraft engine used in Shermans, for example. That would make a cool dio with them pulling it for maintenance! It would also be wonderful if the resulting engine didn't grossly exceed the price of the kit. Sort of in-scale, as it were...
