IBG Models has previously announced several IJA tanks that are on the way. Just released is another variant of the Type 89, and they have shared sprue shots of the kit.
The Type 89 was a medium tank used by the Imperial Japanese Army from 1932 to 1942. There were two main variants: Model Ko / Kou (A) and Model Otsu (B) – the primary difference between the two being the engine, as the former was fueled by gasoline, while the latter being diesel-fed. More than 400 units are believed to have been produced in total.
IBG Model’s Kit 72041 models the diesel version of the Type 89 medium tank. It is an injection-molded kit that contains link-and-length tracks, and photo-etched parts. Two crew figures are provided to complete the offering.
