Panzer Resin Models have been around for a while so this isn’t a News to You story but it’s been a long time since we had any news of them here on Armorama, -2005 actually. This story will bring us up to date on their range and also covers some of the philosophy of why they do what they do.
Although the model market is dominated by model tanks in a real army the ratio of armor to soft skins is reversed. For every armored vehicle in the field in WW2 there were many more soft skins or indeed horse drawn vehicles needed to back up the Armor.
Panzer Resin Models (PRM), based in Brazil, is one company that has dedicated itself to producing the many varieties and types of truck, used by all belligerent nations involved in WW2, not available in styrene.
Panzer Resin Models was started by Fabio Melo and Marcos Serra because the kits they wanted to build weren’t available from anywhere else.
Fabio says
“When we started Panzer Resin Models the large model manufacturers seemed only interested in the known and tiresome models of Panzers, Shermans, etc giving little or any importance to wheeled vehicles. Our slogan reflects our philosophy:
from modelers to modelers
The kits are cast in polyurethane resin and the range at the moment consists of mostly Ford and Chevrolet Trucks including:
Ford Truck V8 Commercial 1937 – Wasser

Also in the range is a conversion set for the Skink

Forthcoming kits from PRM are to include:

Chevrolet 1940 LRDG
and the intriguing titled
Guy Lizard Armoured Command Car
Panzer Resin Models’ kits are produced manually, from the creation of the model master to casting the final product in resin, not using any form of industrial process.
Fabio says his kits:
…should be considered as being LEVEL 1, for beginners in resin, and shouldn’t be compared to manufacturers in resin such as Plus Models, The intent and objective of Panzer Resin Models is provide resin kits of vehicles and equipments that fought in the Great World Wars, with full detail, high quality, and affordable prices.
