These are good times also for fans of kits of the German Bundeswehr, as Y-Modelle has just released a kit of the Mercedes Benz 1017 in the version with flatbed.
The Mercedes 1017A is a 4x4 truck with a payload capacity of 5t. It has been in service with the Bundeswehr since the late 70's

Y-Modelle kit is a highly detailed model, with more than 300 parts of green, black and clear resin plus photoetch for a fully detailed interior of driver cabin, engine and openable doors.

There is also a well assorted decal sheet, with several options for license plates and tactical markings.

It looks almost foto realistic, very cool. The only thing that seems a bit off to me is the front panel of the cab, just a trad too much space under the window?

Cool !

links to images to view them in full size: LINK LINK The distance between the lower edge of windshield and the edge on the metal below looks close enough for me. Approximately the width of a handle above and slightly less below. Did you mean the next panel downwards, the one with 13 and the tactical sign on it? / Robin

Thanks Robin, it is so hard to say where it exactly is in, but something feels a bit off (really only the front panel, the rest seems So fantastically accurate and with finesse). Windshield should perhaps be a tad wider and a ever so slight bit deeper, the thickness of the rubber trim?

Most models seem a little bit "off", maybe because some details are difficut to make true to scale? The wind guides (or whatever they're called) on the front corners are too thich and/or close to the cabin sheet metal. To get a good grip on it would probably need photos taken from the same angle and distance and the same lens (telephoto and fisheye distorts the perspective/angles differently) so you really need to hold the model in your hand and walk around a real truck and turn the model until the views match. The grille needs opening up to create at least a dark hole. Maybe the rubber around the windshield is slightly too pronounced. I am not able to tell if there is or isn't anything more that is slightly "off" .. / Robin

There is a review up on panzermodellbau.de now, the winscreen is a flat piece of acetate, to accomodate this they made the surroundings flat. That is what stands out so much and it really Sells an otherwise excellent model short imho.

Oh f§§k .... Correcting that will require re-doing the whole cabin front. The windshield could have been vac-formed ...... / Robin
