Why are tarps cast in two halves?...
MAR 05, 2019 - 10:22 PM
Maybe they thought it was easier to get good castings of the ends of the tarp rolls that way? Make the pour plugs invisible and easy to remove?

Yes, that's strange. The connection between the two halves is masked by the strap, but nevertheless a strange casting idea. Mario

They could just place the plugs on the turret wall side. Also invisible and also easy to remove, plus no need to assemble two parts...

Hello, I will try to explain why it is done just like this. Casting in two parts is much easier for me. Secondly, the modeler will easily polish both flat surfaces and glue the two parts together. The place of joining will be masked with a photo-etched belt from the set. The rear wall of the T-54 and T-55 tank turret, as you know, is not flat, it is convex. And that means that making the resin infusion into the mold "from underneath" would then be difficult to process. As you can see in the attached photos, the place of gluing two parts is invisible. I hope colleagues that it dispelled your doubts. Regards Stefan
