Although these Vickers Light tanks by IMA are not new releases we haven’t covered them before on Armorama.
International Models Asia is a Hong Kong based company that specialise in British Tanks, not covered by the Major Plastic Model Companies, such as the Churchill and the Vickers.

These are complete kits by IMA and come as hollow casting in light grey resin. From the accompanying photos the castings look very crisp.
Although we have had some Allied kits in plastic this year that we never thought we’d see I’ll go out on a limb here and say that it’ll be a long time before the big model companies get around to making kits of these little tanks (Famous last words?) If you’re tired of Shermans, panzers, Panthers and Tigers these may offer you a challenge.

IMA02635 Vickers Light tank Mk II Kit
This Vickers light tank Mk II, 2 man light tank, was used by the UK army, and Indian army between the wars. Also used by the Australians during the early stages of the war in the western desert, and by the 100th Indian regiment in the defense of Malyasia, and Singapore. Several versions of this kit can be built, with early Horstman suspension, or with improved Horstman suspension, also Indian cupola pattern.

IMA02735Vickers Light tank MkIV
Used by the british Army and Indian Army between the wars, and the early stages of WWII. Several versions of this kit can be built with different turret types.

Hi pat. I must honestly say that i never heard of IMA. But what i saw was absolutly amazing ! This is what a large group of modelers are looking for. Now let's hope this comes in plastic from Tamiya or Tristar when they deside to go allied. We can only dream i think. Thanks for sharing these wonderfull models with us !? Frank.

Hi Pat, Hadn't looked at their Vickers Tanks before but have had a look at some of their Churchill Stuff. Ian at Friendship Models used to stock their kits but he has had problems with supply and I noticed he is no longer carrying the range. Nice to see another option, I believe Gordon at Cromwell's has a couple of good versions of this tank as well. It's really one I'd like to see in plastic, but their stuff looks pretty good, as do their Churchill conversion kits. Cheers for the link. Al

These look great. This series has always been one of my favorite armored vehicles. Where can we get these kits in the States? I've had trouble getting ahold of IMA direct.
