Roden follows-up with another Type B omnibus, this time in civilian livery.
Built and operated by the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC), the Type B was a double-decker bus that was introduced in London in 1910. It could seat a maximum of 34 passengers -- 16 passengers inside and 18 on the uncovered top deck. About 2,500 buses were produced and used on many specially designed inland routes.
A total of 900 of the buses were used to move troops behind the lines during WWI. Initially serving without any modifications and in their red-and-white livery, they were eventually painted khaki. It could carry 24 fully equipped infantrymen and their kit. Some were converted into mobile pigeon lofts, as pigeons were used for communications along the front. These buses were used by the military until the end of WWI.
Roden’s Type B Bus LGOC (739) comes with an array of markings to dress up your build typical of the period.
