The trend amongst several manufacturers at the moment, is to produce 'vignettes-in-a-box'. This is particularly notable from companies such as Masterbox or, the recently announced set from ICM. Now, for the first time, Dragon Models Ltd. have announced a similar iniative.
Released under the series title 'History in Your Hands' (tm), the first set will is scheduled for release at the end of may/beginning of june:
DRA(????) - Olympic Games Camera Team (Berlin 1936) - is a new GenII figure set which will consist of three, 1/35th scale figures - Cameraman, production assistant and, (for the first time in any scale), a representation of the Nazi film-maker Leni Riefenstahl. Also included will be a camera 'dolly' with a 35mm 'Leitzmann' movie camera which will include photo-etch and clear plastic for the lenses. Spare film canisters and battery-pack will also be included.
Although this is the first (officially announced) release, i've been given a few details of future releases in what should be an exciting series..
The following release will be the Ceremonial Parade Unit of the:
Indische Freiwilligen Legion der Waffen-SS - this set promises to be even more spectacular than the first which will include (for the first time in ANY scale) the little-seen elephant kettledrummer along with howdah.
Nor are Allied modelers forgotten in this new iniative, future sets will include British 'Land Girls' - British women who worked on the Home Front in agriculture and forestry as part of the Women's Land Army (WLA) are going to be featured (also in GenII).
More details as they're announced!
Well, as you've probably guessed by now, this was all a hoax for April 1st. Thanks to Robert Blokker (Faust's) graphic, the story took on a life of its own. Thanks for looking!!! - Jim
