Announced by Dragon Models back in June, this new set seems to be getting nearer release...
DRA6457 - Soviet Black Sea Commando (Crimea 1944)

This is a VERY different set of figures (from any manufacturer). Within the four-figure set, no less than 3 different uniform types are represented. Highlight is undoubtedly the sniper's 'Ghillie-Suit' which i'm pretty sure has never been done before.

A LOT of possibilities with this one!

Yes it is a nice subject but again since its not German its not Gen2 and is it me or the fourth guy seems to be in a more casual pose than the other 3? Why do they do that for some of their sets?

Not to be snarky, but why would these figures be considered innovative? They look nicely done, and the array of different uniforms certainly is neat, but I don't think that makes them innovative. If this was a Russian Gen 2 set...perhaps we could consider that to be innovative. Kidding aside, I like this set and will probably add one to the stash when the time comes. -YL

Precisely because they could easily have produced another 'standard' set of Soviet infantry. Instead, they decided to consider something few manufacturers have done. I've been a pretty severe critic of DML's figure release policy over the last few months - more than anything for NOT doing anything particularly interesting or different. This, along with the Italians & the Commonwealth Infantry (despite the issues with the latter) , have shown that they are capable of doing more interesting subjects. Technically (when they pay attention to Ron Volstad ) DML produce superb figures - they just need to demonstrate that elusive 'magic' which we've become used to with MiniArt & Masterbox I know what you mean, but as it's 1 out of 4 I can live with it - if it was 3 out of 4 I wouldn't be so enthusiastic!

I agree with you. But i feel the officer and sniper can form one small vignette. The other two standing figures are either individuals or perhaps a pair. The sniper looks good.i suppose we don't get the dinghy.

Hi Do bear in mind that the images shown are, I believe, computer generated models and not photograhic images of the actual 1/35 scale plastic figures. These will no doubt be up to Dragons usual high standard but maybe not quite as detailed as the images shown. Alan
