Tristar are to release a 1/35 plastic kit of the Sd.Kfz.222 armored car later this year.
The kit is the Ausf.B, or "late", type. It features all the final modifications visible on the later Sd.Kfz.222.
It will also feature a full interior.

wow! this is my favourite armoured car, we are being spoilt with the release of the 221 and 222. I reckon the issue with rubber tires is they are not as easy to sand as plastic. Plus the possibility of paint peeling or cracking in the long run when the rubber flexes and the paint doesn't.

Excellent -- about time we had a new 222! If it's out at the end of the year I may need to get myself a little Christmas present! Certainly hope that it comes with an interior -- would be a pity to waste the opportunity a new release presents if it didn't. Cheers, Ian

The kit is the Ausf.B, or "late", type. It features all the final modifications visible on the later Sd.Kfz.222 (although I am not sure about the non-bulletproof tyres). It comes with a full interior. The tyres are not rubber or vinyl but a new synthetic that will not rot or affect the other parts. They also require no sanding. I'll foward the photographs of the built up model to Pat when I get home, (or you can go to LINK now and look at them if you can not wait). Paul.

Thanks Paul I have added the photos to the news story.

That's useful to know - thanks for the clarification... On that very subject, I definitely believe what Paul has said over this, however a certain (Anonymous) Blogger has said that if it ISN'T the case then Paul should 'compensate all modelers for this misleading and owes everybody an apology.(sic)' (his words, not mine). Keep shooting the messenger?

Looks like a new reference of SdKfz. 222. Even at first sight one can see a nice molded kit. Full interior, clear parts and it seems that the steering is adjustable.

Looks great. One other question, would that be the same vehicle as in "Gruber's little tank" from the series Allo, Allo?

I never got around to building the Tamiya kit, and now I know why
