Oh no! I hear you cry, not another Rail Gun!.. Well yes and no... This is somewhat different...
Dragon at the moment, like many of their competitors, exploring previously ignored scales. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the release of the 28cm K5(E) "Leopold" Railway Gun in 1/144th scale...
Model no. 14503 - 4 is without a doubt, the biggest smale scale vehicle kit on the market. Coming as two different versions, one with a straight section of track and the other with the curved section. A crew (!) is also included... This promises to be one of the most interesting releases of the year.
Now the K5 is available in 1/35th (Dragon and Trumpeter), 1/72nd (Hasegawa) and with this new release - 144th scale..
Where, one may ask is the logic behind such a choice of scale? Well, in my opinion it is the space we have to display models. Not all of us have the space to display a 1/35th scale Leopold and support vehicles. For many, 1/144th should produce an interesting model. Also, with the increased range of models in this scale (also from Dragon coincidentally..) it is only a matter of time until the first conversion sets come out...
