by: Engin Kayral [ GRAYWOLF ]

introduction

Military figures playing music are really hard to find on market, Vladimir Demchenko decided to fill this gap and switched weapons to musical instruments . He already sculpted two kits, each including a pair of musicians. Lili Marlene for World War II is already released by BRAVO-6 and Delta Blues for Vietnam War will be available soon.
B6-35107 Lili Marlene includes two German tankers in panzer uniforms playing violin and harmonica.

packing & casting

Kit comes in standard light brown cardboard box with a photo of the painted figures. Inside the box; figure bodies ,small parts and PE parts are inserted into seperate transparent zip-lock bags.
Parts are cast in medium gray resin and represented with casting blocks. Resin quality is good, details are crisp and clean. There is no casting mistakes, air bubbles or flesh resin but slightly visible seamlines need a cleanwork. Note that support blocks under the chin and back of knees of the sitting figure should be removed.

FIGURE #A
Posed standing and playing violin, figure comes in in 4 parts; full body with head, two seperate arms and left hand with fiddle.
  • Facial details and German military style haircut are well defined. Head is slighlty turned to left and eyes look down as a playing violin pose. He wears pocketless Army shirt / Heereshemd with long sleeves and half-open in front with four buttons, and Panzer Trousers / Panzerhosen. Details of the trousers like button fly, adjustment belt with metal buckle, four pockets with scalloped single-button flaps and small watch fob pocket at the right groin area are well represented. As for footgear, he has Long boots / Marschstiefel.
  • Left arm with upfolded sleeves posed to hold the fiddle carries a wrist watch.
  • Left hand with fiddle : Details of the instrument like bridge, tail piece, scroll, F-holes, tuning pegs and strings are well defined.
  • Right arm with upfolded sleeves to hold the fiddlestick.
  • Fiddlestick is given as a photoetched part.
  • A folded Sidecap/Feldmütze can be displayed next to the figure.

    FIGURE #B
Posed sitting and blowing his harmonica, it comes in 3 parts as full body and two arms.
  • Sculpted in nice facial details and German haircut, he has the same uniform and a small scarf on neck. Over his shirt, he wears Panzer Wrap Jacket. Shoulder straps, collar tabs, buttons, breast eagle on the right and panzer badge on the left are all very well defined. Right hand is cast on the thigh of the figure.
  • Right arm shows nice cloth folds and make a good fit to the shoulder and hand.
  • Left arm is posed to hold the harmonica next to his lips.
    conclusion

A very nice subject, great sculpt and flawless cast. Absolutely a great kit to create different World War II scenes.

    Very Highly Recommended

These two would look so sweet playing along with my piano man!! Now, how do I afford them? Hmmmmm There seems to be a deformed part in the pictures though, as the hand holding the fiddle shows the tuning pegs in the wrong angle coming off the instruments neck. Would it be an easy fix?

Hi Dave, I think this problem is due to cast of my review sample. I am not sure all kits will have the same problem as the master of the figure shows tuning pegs in correct shape. For my built, I will cut tuning pegs near the fingers level and re-glue in correct angle.I believe some filling will fix it. keep safe Engin

Thanks Engin. I assumed it was probably a one off issue. Glad to hear it would be a relatively easy fix if another kit had the same problem. That said, does anyone know where a canucklehead like myself can order these? I clicked on the website link above and looked at Canadian distribution, clicked on that link to find it was dead. Any help from anyone this side of the pond who has ordered Bravo-6 figures? Dave
