Tankograd Publishing has spoilt Armorama by sending us advance copies of their titles due for release in March this year. This time around Tankograd Publishing has released 4 new titles in their ‘In Detail Fast Track’ series of titles covering the Aussie Land Rover Perentie, M88A2 Hercules, RG-31 Mk 5 and Husky VMMD. This review takes a look inside the cover at the Husky VMMD.
Contents
This title consists of 40 pages inside a glossy card cover and is printed in a panoramic approach as opposed to the usual portrait approach.
Review
This series of books in the ‘In Detail Fast Track’ line are printed in English only, the text itself only takes up a couple of the 40 available pages. The text of this title provides a short history of the Husky VMMD, which can viewed as a chronological history. The text is helpful in terms of when and where timescale wise and also provides information on the three versions of the Husky VMMD.
The photographs in this title are of a very high standard being in focus and of good clarity. The areas of the vehicle covered in this title breaks down as follows;
Husky Mk I
Husky Mk III VMMD with Slate Armour
Husky Mk III VMMD
General walk around of Husky Mk III
The Hull
Metal Detector
Tyres
Front Suspension
Rear Suspension
Interior
Debris Blower
Visor 2500 GPR
These photographs do a very good job of assisting a modeller in all aspects when it comes to accurate depiction, but I am not aware of any available models of this vehicle available today or announced. I do however suspect that due to something being as ugly as this vehicle, it has to be thought of as beautiful and so may be with us soon. Each of the photographs or series of photographs are accompanied with a good caption, the captions supplying the needed information on what is being shown.
Conclusion
The ‘In Detail Fast Track’ series of books are fast becoming THE must have titles for modellers on a budget and for those modellers who are looking for the details and not the written information. The photographs will aid the modeller to produce very accurate models depending on ability or to just add basic details to improve a model. The text at the front of the title provides a grounding in the vehicle and its history in an easy to digest format, but does not go into huge amounts of information that the modeller may have no need for or interest in. As I have said before, I consider this title and others in the series to be aimed specifically at the modeller and the only improvement I would suggest is that I would like to see scale drawings make an appearance to further aid the modeller.
SUMMARY
Highs: Great reference material at a very affordable price that gives the modeller a quick and easy to use pictorial reference.Lows: There are no lows of which I am aware, but I would like to see Tankograd Publishing introduce scale drawings as these books are in my opinion aimed at the modeller.Verdict: Another affordable title to add to your library.

It just arrived! Sharp color pics showing nice details. Tankograds limitation is 999 booklets - so I had to order it now before the Panda model arrives!
