Producer of high quality 1/35 scale resin World War II figures for Axis and Allied Forces, Rado Miniatures, keeps adding new lines to their product range. After launching PE German Insignia sets, Radek Pituch announced it is time to reveal a new series as resin figure bases.

The first kit of Wedgie series RDM-35B01 is a street barricade scene with a disabled German remote controlled mine - Goliath. It is best offered for Warsaw Uprising figures but can be used for all World War II urban scenes.

Base is sculpted by M.Baranski and cast in resin as a single piece base in 60x60 mm dimensions. Casting is clean and details are sharp, no need for a cleanwork.

Boxart is nicely painted by M.Skrzypek which can be used as a painting reference.

Base depicts a cobblestone road section blocked with piled stone tiles and a disabled German disposable demolition vehicle also known as Leichter Ladungsträger Goliath (Goliath Light Charge Carrier). Goliath on this figure base is an electrically powered SdKfz. 302. It had 2 electric motors and carried 60 kg.s of explosives. Vehicle was steered remotely via a joystick control box. The control box was connected to the Goliath by a 650-metre ,triple-strand cable attached to the rear of the vehicle. The cable was used both for control and for transmitting power to the electric driven version. Two of the strands were used to move and steer the Goliath, while the third was used for detonation. Each Goliath was disposable, being intended to be blown up with its target. Early model Goliaths used an electric motor but, as these were costly to make and difficult to repair in a combat environment, later models - known as the SdKfz. 303, used a simple, more reliable Zündapp SZ7 / 2-cylinder gasoline engine and carried 100 kg.s explosive charge. Goliaths were widely used at Anzio, Italy and against the Polish resistance during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Details of the vehicle, red bricks around and rubble covering the tiles are all well defined.

I can say Rado made a great start to Wedgie series with that figure base. I wish more will come on the same quality.
