Britsh Military Police Tropical Dress
British Military Police tropical dress

by: Keith Forsyth [ DOCDIOS ]

In this day and age it seems that many manufactures have moved over from white metal to resin, I don't know if its down to the production costs or what the modeller now expects. Don't get me wrong I love resin figures but the feel of white metal is so much more. You feel that you have value for money just due to the weight you are holding or may be it's just me.

The figure comes in a small clear plastic bag stapled to a piece of card that covers the opening. The card is simple and shows the producers name, the figure title and product code, the back has a simple "made in the UK" and obligatory health warning "not suitable for young children" which may also apply to some of are older builders i know. I must admit I'm quite a fan of the simple boxing theory as I know it helps keep the costs down, but it also means you can view the actual figures before you buy but i believe in the future these figures may well come in boxes.

Inside the first clear packet you get the lower torso and another clear bag that contains the arms, upper torso, pistol holster and the head.

The built figure depicts a British MP in tropical dress (shorts and sleeves rolled up) directing traffic, the pose is neither stiff or un-natural so should allow the figure to fit into one or two different locations.

The lower torso has some small mould lines as expected, but nothing major, the detail is nice and crisp and there are a couple of pour plugs on the bottom of the feet that need to be removed.

The upper torso is highly detailed and is on par with some of the resin items you can now find, it also fit snice and snuggly onto the lower torso with out the need for any major filling.

The head is nicely sculpted, with a good stern looking face, and good detail on the peaked cap. There is very little in the way of clean up required other than the removal of the pour plug at the bottom of the neck.

The arms again have some small mould line to remove and need the joins sanding down so they fit to the upper torso, but the detail again is excellent.

SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent detail considering the medium used, a well sculpted natural posse
Lows: if any its the lack of painting instructions and details on how best to build and clean up white metal figures.
Verdict: An excellent first figure from a new manufacture, its nice see some one prepared to go against the grain and produce allied figures from the off, and if they continue in this vain they should be very successful.

Hi Keith, Thanks for the review. I think Pete from Jakeri has produced a really neat figure, an MP actually doing something other than standing about. he will fit well into a number of scenes as will the two desert tankers he has produced also well modelled. Great to see another manufacturer producing some British figures, I've built the RN sailor so far and he's a neat figure also, only my second metal one. He has some interesting developemnts planned for the future so well worth keeping an eye out. Cheers Al
