introduction
Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) is the latest vehicle in a line of combat and defensive vehicles produced in the United States. They are supplied for a wide range of tasks including troop transport, artillery support, and command and control. Their role has gradually shifted to dedicated engineering and Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) as the mission parameters changed. Variants include the Cougar, MRAP and the Buffalo all configured in 4X4 or 6X6 layout.
Several thousand of the MRAP vehicles have been delivered to the US Armed Forces. A large number of Cougars were ordered by the United States Marine Corp after it was reported that no troops had died in more than 300 IED attacks on US Army Cougars.
Currently there are five countries using the MRAP;
Canada
United Kingdom
Iraq
Poland
Additionally, the United State, Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force use the vehicle.
