When Jim asked me if I wanted to review a set of Chinese Drums, I had no idea what he was talking about. But I said sure send them, thinking they were something along the lines perhaps strange and unusual musical instruments.
What arrived was one of Bronco Models latest accessory sets for their modern Chinese Armored vehicles. Nothing like reviewing something you have no knowledge of, either Chinese vehicles, or OIL DRUMS!
A search via google didn't turn up much info either, but I did find one usable photo of a worker counting drums at a plant somewhere in Asia, that looks like the model drums.
what's inside
So what do you get for your 7 bucks? Inside the package are three sprues, each containing parts for two drums, so you get a total of six drums. I assembled one drum to check the fit. The drum halves fit together excellently, with hardly any seam visible, and both end pieces also fitted well. These drums do not have side bungs, just the top two. There is also no sort of writing or impressions marking the drums. The photo of the real drums I found show all the markings painted on, so I assume this is correct.
The box illustration shows two drums mounted sideways on the rear of some sort of Chinese tank, and I assume these are the actual purpose of this set, with a color suggestion of light green. But I'm sure they could easily be painted in brighter colors and used a civilian fuel/chemical drums also, as shown in the one photo.
SUMMARY
Highs: A simple, affordable set for those who enjoy building modern Chinese armor. Excellent fit, minor seam to contend with. (remember there is at least one welded seam on steel drums)Lows: I really can't think of any low points, except it would have been nice if decals were included for any marking these drums may carry in their military use. Verdict: For 7 bucks it's pretty cheap to help set off you modern Chinese armor, mounted on the rear, with a few extra for the side lines.

I'm rewriting this in a much more humoristic way, to help over inflate my ego, and place my self on a pedestal, because I don't have a life, and plastic models are the only thing I live for. I plead guilty as charged to excessive babble, light hearted humor, and continued encouragement to youngsters...
Too bad they don't have Chinese characters on them! But a good review of a real niche product. Should go well with the Chinese vehicles Bronco has been releasing.
