Introduction

The T-34/100 was an Egyptian conversion from the well known T-34/85 tank. For this conversion the Russian BS-3 high velocity canon was used. The turret was transformed into a tank destroyer by welding steel plates on to the existing turret; the steel plates were welded on the front, back, sides and roof in addition to a recuperation system which was placed inside the turret to catch the recoil.

The kit by Accurate Armour is well packed in a sturdy cardboard box approximately 16.5 cm in length, 12.5 cm wide and 6.5cm deep. On top of the box there is a picture of the finished model along with the kit number and description along with the address on the side of the box

Inside the box there are;

• 85 resin pieces.
• 17 Photo etch pieces.
• 2 parts are from other materials.
• The manual.

All the parts are nicely packed into a Zip Loc bag, except for the large turret part. These parts were also protected by some foam blocks to prevent damage from shaking. The main gun isn’t included in the kit. Therefore you need the ICM Russian WW2 BS-3 gun (ICM-35141) and a Dragon T-34/85 lower hull. I will refer to that later on.
Almost every part is attached to a casting block. These are numbered from A to Z, SA to SZ and TA to TH. The Photo etched parts are numbered from E1 to E6.

First look

The First time I opened the box I was impressed. It well packed and there was nothing damaged on my first look, and although some parts were warped and some other parts had become detached from their casting block there is no real problem because the parts are not damaged. The warped parts can be bent back to its original shape by heating it, but some parts are to flimsy to bend by a heater, so scratching these parts would be advisable. There is a lot of flash, but nothing that can’t be removed easily. The parts are cleanly molded with some nice details. One minor thing is that there are some air bubbles on the backside of the turret. The casting blocks can be easily removed from the parts, because the attachment point are quit small, the casting block of the larger parts are already removed with only some clean up needed.

I didn’t make a comparison because I couldn’t find a lot of reference about this subject. The manual contains 2 A4 sheets printed in colour. But just one of them is the actual manual. On the front the model is presented in its completed form. The next page tells the builder about the hazards of resin. There are several warnings present/repeated here, a list of tools you need and an explanation on how to handle the kit parts. On page 3 there is the actual manual to build this kit. These are not illustrations, but actual photographs of the model in its building stages. Pages 4, 5 and 6 are just like page 3. On page 7 there is explanation of the photographs. Page 8 is a list of the parts included in the kit.

Conclusion

This is an original subject, and is a better detailed model of the real vehicle compared with the old and hard to get Maquette kit. The parts are cleanly molded without any air bubbles, except at the back of the turret however this I not hard to deal with. Although there is a large amount of flash it will not hard to deal with. There are some warped parts that will need some care to straighten the parts by the application of heat. Some parts are too flimsy to align by applying heat, so scratching these parts would be advisable. The parts were also nicely packed in a Zip loc bag and some foam blocks were added into the box.

Accurate Armour didn’t add the BS-3 gun in the kit. A huge disadvantage because this kit is very hard to get. It would have been better if Accurate Armour had included the gun with its components. The T-34/85 lower hull from Dragon isn’t hard to get at all. There are so many versions on the market but Accurate Armour recommends a late version lower hull.
