Alright folks, we have officially been approved for the 1st of September, so start getting those kits ready, especially if you have to order one.
Also, feel free to PM me if you would be interested in stepping up as a second in command. I don't see myself going anywhere, but I do agree its a good idea, just in case.
I myself will be enterying Academy's M981 FISTV. It is an artillery forward observation vehicle. More information and some pictures can be found at this site if you are interested http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m981.htm

Hi Emre and Jesper, glad to see you on board for this one. And yes, there certainly is a lot you can choose for this one. It will be interesting to see what you come up with!

Hi Kevin, I have been through my stash now and have come up with a likely candidate, but I am not sure if it will qualify.
It is the Sd.Kfz. 140/1 Aufklarungspanzer 38. It is technically a reconnaisance vehicle, but I plan to outfit it as a command vehicle with extra radios, star antennas etc. It is basically what one would do to make a normal tank into a command tank. Would this qualify for this campaign?

I will try my best and build my Italeri M-925 Shelter Truck for this one. However, I quit work this month to start an MBA program this September, so depending on my commitment for that I might change to something smaller like a Kubel(since I am a lazy modeler I should say).
Another good campaign to go, glad I'm in, let's have fun!

Perhaps the 925 Shelter to make a AN/TTC 39

I would count it. You are making it into a command vehicle, so it would fit the campaign. Good luck with it Jesper.
Also Emre has volunteered to be the 2IC for this campaign. Thanks Emre.

Emre, either one is fine and fits in. The Kubel was used for command staff at times.
Don, I did some reading on the AN/TTC 39. Very interesting vehicle. Good choice, and good luck.

Welcome to the campaign Mark, glad to see you join. Plenty of WWII German to choose from really, so pick something fun.
Also just a note, if anyone needs some help with research or ideas, just PM me. I know modern armour better than anything, but I have a fair size library to root through that includes everything from the Boer War up to modern combat. One includes a book with sketches of the main types of vehicles used by the German Army in WWII. From the Panzer 1 up to the King Tiger, halftracks, scout cars....and, you guessed it, some command vehicles that would fit in perfectly. Maybe a good one would be the vehicles used in blitzkrieg to call in and co-ordinate the Stukas.
Also, for anyone wanting to do something Canadian, I work weekends at the Military Communications and Electronice Museum, and know the curator well, so I can stop in, root through files, and grab some pictures of anything on display OR in storage there.

My pleasure, I will be glad for any help I can provide.
Anyone building a beobachtswagen I wonder? Like a Panther with a dummy gun that Dragon offers in 1/35?

Oh sure, blame your new purchase on me
Oh well, I'll take the blame for anyone looking for a new kit their partner may not approve of

I am looking to build Michael Wittmann's Tiger 1 during the Normandy Campaign. Every picture I have found; his actual Tiger 1 N.205, not the one he used in the famed convoy assault N.222 or N.231; lacks antennas. Would the number 222 or 205 Tigers be acceptable?

I might join this one if I can find the kit I want to build. I have been looking for the Cyber-Hobby 1/35 Kubelwagen radio car, but everyone seems to be out of stock. There are several different places that have the 1/16 scalle car, but that is a little ambitious for me.
I did find a couple fo opther kits that would be nice, but for some reason I have that darn Kubelwagen stuck in my head.

OK, something else caught my eye, so I jumped into the fray. I am going with a DML Sd. Kfz. 265 Kleiner Panzerbefehlwagen I Early. I also plan to add the Lion Roar PE set as well. It might be a little ambitious for me, but I think I can do it. Any way, looks like I have my two big winter projects a littel early.
And if I could figure out how to upload a picture I would. But only one thing at a time here!

Im more into modern, so I don't really know the specifics of Wittmann's tanks. I would prefer keeping it to one with the extra antennas and radios. I would prefer sticking to a command vehicle, not just a vehicle used by a famous commander.

Hmm, this looks like the perfect excuse to build the new Bronco Humber scout car I'd be doing it as one belonging to Regimental HQ, 3RTR, so that would count, right?

Well my Panzerbefehlwagen arrived today. Of course I ahd to open it up and take a look. Wow, it is small!!! I guess I should have figured it would be samll.
Now just to get everything I need and wait until Sept 1. I suppose it is a good thing I ahve another project going to occupy my time.

HQ is alright. It fits the command part. Just make sure its clear.

Do you mean make sure the model is in a setting where its clear its a HQ vehicle? Or just make sure that I state its an HQ vehicle?
Thx
