Rick
Not to be a stick in the mud, but we never had a fourth troop across the pond, one to many bands on the barrel.

Cheers

Hey Troops,

With the renewed interest in the Canadian Leopard 2A6m I went thru this build log and repaired all the broken links and pics. (no i'm not bored at work, honest )

Fixed the troop bands on the turret as well

And here are some other buildlogs for this bad boy,

Sean Hopkin's build

Miloslav Hraban's build

cheers

And I have been using all 3 for inspiration, LOL. Got the upper and lower hulls joined on mine today; now have to finish assembling the Bronco tracks....

That's good to hear, how are the Bronco tracks like to assemble? I plan on using them for my next 2A6m build.

Oh, and here's a link to the build feature.

Quite easy, actually. If you don't already own one, a good set of sprue nippers is a must, though. The castings are nice and clean with no flash. One thing to watch for when you start building: the little pin thingies that join the links have an "up" and "down" side to them; take a look at the picture on the box to make sure you get the bolt head detail on the right side. And if I just counted right, on the track I just finished it takes 76 links for the proper length on the Tamiya Leo.

Rick, I also meant to ask: how sturdy are the PE brackets for the hull side armor? Do they hold the slat well enough on their own, or do you need to back them with a brass wire pin or something to beef them up a bit to hold the weight of the slat?

They hold up the weight just fine, jsut make sure you attach them before paint.

Ok, thanks. Yep, plan on installing them before paint; just plotting the course for the order I need to do things. Painting/weathering tracks and installing PE on the turret right at the moment.

Any tips on shaping the bottom pieces of the attachments to match the shape of those godawfully small side pieces? ( I am talking about the brackets that attach to the top of the slats that run along the hull side. )

I just eye ball the horozontal part against the vertical holding both with tweezers, dip the vertical into gel CA glue and hope for the best LOL!
