Thanks guys. I had minor surgery yesterday to remove a cyst which was the result of a spider bit about 18 years ago. The surgery went fine and the pain isn't too bad... yet... the Vicodin have been seeing to that.
Here are a few photos after the dust coat from the other day. I was way too busy yesterday to get these posted. I'm actually much farther along than these photos show. Several oil washes have been done and I'm just about to apply another dust coat (which will be the first on the turret). I was finally able to get the blue heart decal to settle down over the hatch/visor on the turret. The lifting hook has been reattached over the decal and painted blue as well. I'll post the new pics in a little bit. We're going to go early vote this morning and its my wife's birthday today!

I'm cutting it real close. I actually just finished airbrushing the main assemblies. I did knock my airbrush over and almost all my paint spilled but I was pretty much done. I'd also driven over to D&J Hobby earlier on to get more paint. Now I need to finish hand painting things and attaching them. Then there are a few decals to apply then a spray of Testors Dullcote. The truly tricky thing left are putting the "link and length" tracks on.

Here are some updated photos as my Char appeared yesterday evening. Keep in mind no weathering had been done on the turret at this point as I was still in the process of repairing the damage from removing the lifting hook and getting the heart decals to hunker down. The hull has received a couple of oil washes using turpenoid and burnt umber oils.
I went to put on the tracks, only to find the runs 4 links short! That's what I get for following the instructions and not dry fitting...... I've quickly assemble the sections, painted them, dry brushed and applied a wash. I'll be putting the track sections on shortly. Then comes another dust coat and some dot/streak washes.

Cruising right along. The tracks have been installed and I put down another dust coat making it heavier as you go down the sides of the tank. I still need to do some oil washes on the turret and next up will be an attempt to get the streaks of mud and goo going down the huge flanks before we go early vote and take my wife out to dinner for her birthday.

This brings back bad memories of cramming for mid-terms and finals or being under pressure to get something working to show for a trade show. :-)
My eyes are going nuts from painting the rubber tires on the suspension. Getting the sidewalls right is killing my eyes. And then my hand starts shaking! The road wheels on the UE are the size of return rollers on normal tank kits. You don't want to know how big the return rollers of the UE are. I applied one of the signal board decals and found it was a bigger than the board. Also there was an ejection pin mark I forgot to remove and, well, let's just say Micro Sol works really well. *sigh*
Here is a photo of what I airbrushed earlier today.

hello Duncan,
post your photo on this thread, and i will try to post it on the gallery.in any case post it here ASAP so you can get your ribbon.
when you try to post it from photobucket to the gallery make sure it is the large image and not the thumbnail.that might be the problem.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi Guys,
I built a Char B1 using the Tamiya kit and the ADV/Azimut conversion. It represents a tank that might have been returned to combat in May, 1940.
I didn't build this one for the campaign, but since it's the right time frame, I thought I'd include it. It's the Commander's Models resin Char D2 kit. I used an Alps printer to make the markings. The fenders and some of the rear hull detail is scratch-built and I used some DML tools on the back deck. The grab handles are wire and the straps and buckles are PE from On-the -Mark.
So, there you have it. My Char B1 is my entry and the Char D2 is eye candy.
Regards,
Georg

I've started on getting the mud streaks down the side. I'm going to do one more application, then we're heading out for my wife's birthday dinner. I'll probably do one final dust coat then will post pictures. I'll have a final pic uploaded late this evening before midnight. Thanks again for the extension, there was no way I was going to miss the deadline again. whew!

90 minutes to go here on the West Coast but there's just too much to do still. Oh well, at least this time I came close to finishing a campaign; most times I barely started. There's probably 2 more days of work to get the kit done. Right now, I need to sleep. :-)

This was a fun GB, I really liked seeing all the builds of the less than mainstream stuff. Made for some very interesting subject matter.
Technically my build is finished, but I'd really like to build up some more mud on the sides. Would that violate the GB rules? If so, I'll leave it as it is and put it on the shelf. If it's ok, I want to build up some more mud.
I think it would be cool to keep building up the mud until it looks like how Bourrasque appeared at the time of it's capture. I'd love to be able to replicate the streaks of mud and goo coming down the sides like this buy just patiently building up the layers of washes.
