Hey Paul-
1948 Centurian a British "What-If" is a neat idea. Just take what you know about British Armor and extend it. You might also take some features of the later series Centurians and incorporate them since development would have been faster paced.
The other thing you might want to do is look at some of the German 1946 "What-If" features and dream up the British equivalent. Stand- off armor over the engine intakes, Stereoscopic or IR sights, remote weapons mini-turret for the commander.....
And of course a thermal wrapped gun from the Chieftain kit.
And that Berlin brigade camo....
Just some suggestions. Everyone who has a really good idea is keeping it to themselves I think.
Kick off date is next Monday- Woo Hoo
Steve
Thanks Steve !
Some good ideas to use....
This will be fun I think..

I've been thinking about this one for a little while.
Now there are a lot of WWII German / Axis "What if ?" projects being started...... so I'm thinking something Allied would be nice.
WWII 1948....
The new Mk III Centurion is on duty on the Western Front and the 1st Polish Armoured Division has been issued with these beasts.
Tamiya kit, with a few extras and some nice WWII Commonwealth stowage.
Any more ideas or tips ?
Cheers
Paul
Paul
I love that idea Maybe add some extra armor on the hull front?
I am in with a M4A2E8 90mm ,3rd armored division

G'day Chad !
Yeah I was thinking about spare tracks (as was the case with the Sherman's) on either side of the turret front, and maybe a few more tracks on the frontal armor too.
The M4A2E8 sounds great !!

Ive lost interest in my earlier idea, and have moved onto a more realistic proposal.
Dresden 1946, The End of the Reich
:E10 ausf B/2 "Grenadiersturmwagen"
:Panzergrenadier's mit FlakVest und Standarte MP44
Yet another to add to the repetative german what if's, but like earlier i will make my E10 unique, "Grenadiersturmwagen" a possible assault-troop carrier with a 20mm cannon or plenty of Mg42's.

Hi Matthew, being a "Paperpanzer"enthusiast myself I look forward 2 see your E-10. I had some wicked plans 4 the campaign like a rocket-carrying E-25 or a lowered E-10 in ambushmode. I still have a E-10 & E-100 lying around, think I'll do something with the both of 'em ... we'll see.

Hey Paul-
since you have a Chieftain coming....
I wonder if the Chieftain roadwheels and track could be used on the Centurian Hull?
I know the Israelis used Merkava style track on some M60's.
Now Chads Idea-
I would look for cues from the German 1946 stuff and imagine countermeasures. for the Allies.
Armored covers for Panther and King Tiger engine intakes are popular- wonder how a Sherman would look with the same?
I'd also think about an armor upgrade made to look factory- like a Jumbo mantlet and a thicker glacis.
How does the Pershing Turret ring diameter compare to a Sherman's??
Hmmmmm....
If you have seen that 4 wheeled weapons carrier vehicle I am considering above... looks as though the modeler had some good ideas on the forward part of the vehicle and then either lost interest- or was under the gun to make a deadline. The back half is just a collection of styrene rectangles. Underneath in the center is what looks like a Panzer IV track. Something this wide would have a problem high-centering- but tracks aren't the way to go. I am thinking rollers underneath. Since it is a fantasy vehicle--- radical paint scheme

Hey there Steve....
Yeah I'll have a look at that, I was thinking about doing a pretty much standard Mk III, but now that you've suggested the Cheiftain possibilities, I'll try a bit of a kit bash.
I'll have a look at it when it arrives.
After all the Cheiftain V is supposed to be "a bit a dog" so I'll use as many bits as I can on the Centurion I think.

The m26 Pershing and the M4 Sherman series had the same diameter turret race There was one prototype of an M4A3 with the M26 turret I will probably add some extra armor on it

Thanks Chad-
I wonder if I read that somewhere about the Pershing and Sherman turret races? Anyway thanks for confirming the guess.
Obviously I am pretty pleased to see this thing get rolling. We are going to see some cool stuff!

Chad-
way, way back Cookie Sewell scratchbuilt a Super Pershing. He made the gun tube out of a broken fishing rod.
I have never used this tip- but it would work for a what if. Just pic the section you need and carefully cut it.
The Muzzle Brake- you are on your own

Fishing rod's a good idea As far as a muzzle brake goes,I could use a German one from the W.W.2 verrsion of their 105mm Like from a Sturmhaubitze III That was a Stug 3 armed with a 105 howitzer The muzzle brake looks close enough to a US version

Yeah, I'm a bit puzzled too. This is my first campaign and I don't really know where to post and keep a blog.
On my end the 'real' (ahurm) E-100 is about the go into (re)construction, basically reworking the Dragon kit according to the Panzertracts plans.... Which is going to be

The Centurion and Chieftain kits arrived in the mail today.
All of the Centurion wheels are sanded. assembled and primed. Not sure if the Cheiftain barrel will fit the Centurion.........but putty and files are wonderful tools
I'm going to use the 1st Polish Division decals from the Tasca VC kit on this baby....
