The Wooden mock-up was on a D chassis. If it ever had entered production they would have used old chassis that were returned to the factory (or so some publications say). Imagine the war dragged on and production continued they would have eventually ended up with a G/F chassis for the Coelian.

Cheers,

John

Hi John
Thanks for that. After reading that most german tank conversions were from damaged and broken down tanks i.e. Sturmtiger and bergepanther I thought that this would probably be the case.
Your comments regarding the G/F chassis could be an inspiration for someone to build one

great work so far Andrew, i'd personally go for the panzer IV h coz it would be easier to build out of the box the Jagpanzer needs a hell of a lot of work check out the build log by Justin and you'll see what i mean. Kimmo sorry late with the reply i've sent you a PM mate. Ant

I am going to start the Panzer IV Ausf H next. and will not be a straight from the box. I'm still tempted to start the Jagdpanzer IV though, as the Friul tracks and drive sprockets I ordered for it arrived today lol

It's been a long time since posting any update on the Coelian. The RB Model barrels arrived and have been fitted, major improvement from the kit issued barrels. I got lazy, and forgot I was going to paint the Coelian in a octopus style pattern, and got carried away with red brown lines today when I had the airbrush out...

I'm now waiting on a set of friuls to arrive to fit to the Coelian. In the meantime I might add further camo lines using olive green

Hi Andrew!
Better late than never. Your Coelian atleast finished and looks good, mine is still in my stash with AM barrels and PE set. Some olive green would definitely look good on Coelian.

Hey Kimmo

The Coelian is around 80% complete, I'm on the homeward leg now, I just have to add the Olive Green camo, paint the road wheels and pioneer tools, fit the Friul tracks, then weather it.

Fingers crossed I can have the log finished within a year! I didnt realise it's been almost a whole year since I started it!

Looks great can't wait to see it finished bit of a shame about not doing the Octopus type scheme but hay... maybe you could paint your JagdPanther or the Brummbar (if you won it)?

More pictures soon please!

Good looking thing!
Perhaps the "small break" from building/ painting the kit has a good part for you.
(more ideas for painting, finishing, or some thoughts about accessoires)

I also have a kit + dio on the bench, and a long time between the updates. But on my gun, one of the wheels broke away. So the build-process is "paused".

greetings...
Soeren

Thanks for the comments, but I'm a little lost to why you think I won a Brummbar or Jagdpanther?

Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments. The small break was somewhat enforced by the birth of my first daughter Caitlyn I'm a stay at home dad now, while SWMBO goes to work. So whenever baby is asleep, I try to get into the hobby room and get some work done. Some days are productive, others are not quite so as you can imagine.

Cheers

Actually, no mistake, I think the lack of ventilation whilst using glues has affected my memory! I have started a Jagdpanther on here, I struck some issues in regards to lack of research before applying zimmerit (zimmerit was never applied to late Jagdpanthers). With the amount of CA glue I used to get the etched zimmerit on, I doubt I'll every get if off to correct it. So in the meantime the Jagdpanther lurks in it's box in the stash cupboard. It may find it's way out one day as a painting hack or something lol

In regards to the Brummbar, I won an early Tamiya version on a local (NZ) auction site, and brought the Dragon 6081 at a LHS. Both are on the list to be built soon, maybe even this year

Thanks for the Congrats! Having a child certainly changes your aspect on life! Caitlyn is almost four months old now. I can't believe how fast time has gone since she was born. In some ways I can't wait until she gets older and starts talking, rather than trying to interpret what her cries mean. Then again, I'm dreading the day she's old enough to have a boyfriend! Where's my shotgun? Haha

Wait till she's 12 and on holiday and wants to kneel on the chair beside the table while you're working on a model so she can lean forward and watch everything you're doing.

Yeah, it sounds like SWMBO, likes to come in and talk to me at critical times, normally asking for me to go and do something, seconds after applying the glue to half of the parts I'm assembling!

Right, time for an update. Olive Green for the camo has been added. That will probably be it for the Coelian until the weekend, I want to let the paint harden before adding pioneer tools and giving it a coat of Future ready for weathering
