Hi, I would like to know if you guys are willing to participate in a ONU vehicles campaign? the main theme are those all white vehicles we see on the news around the world from time to time; if there are some camouflaged ones they will be welcome too. no "What if". scale will be from 1/72 to 1/24.
let me know
Happy Modeling
Byron

Hi again, Further to my earlier submission, the UN in Cyprus used British Vehicles. Also air cover. At the time I was in the Med, (41 Commando RM stationed in Malta) 1974 the Unit was tasked to serve the 6 months under the UN Banner. While there the UN were using the Bell Souiox helicopter. Would this be permissable, ie the aircraft for this campaign? Hope so as I have got a few ideas running through my head.......... including the ''flying bubble'' which I have in my stash plus a couple of landrovers...
Regards Mike

Well, I was thinking only armor, but aircraft can be done as well; so this can be from 1/144 to 1/35 scale. Also will need a "wingman" ( I do not know the equivalent term for wingman in armor), someone interested?
Regarding the schedule, it can be from late 2009 to mid 2010.

I am in. Do not know what I will build yet, but there should be plenty of oportunities. Start in winter 2009 or spring 2010 would be best I think.

I think that an ONU pacekeeper vehicles campaign is interesting because: a) the scheme is an anomaly, every other tank, apc, troop transport, recon, etc. is painted in order to make it hard to see, ONU vehicles say "Hey, here I am". b) the countries and the armor involved are from around the world, so there is variety. c) is so politicaly correct that even the French and Canadian has participate.
So, in order to define the subject and its rules, it will be as follows:
1.- only white vehicles, aircraft (yes, they are) and helos, no camouflaged ones. I was mistaken by IFOR/SFOR.
2.- scale 1/144 to 1/35.
3.- must have the UN script in the vehicle.
4.- there are plenty of UN missions so not " What-if ".
5.- as I am NOT an expert, it would be nice to include some background.
6.- it will be from November 12 2009 to May 10 2010.
We need 10 modelers, and we have so far:
1.- John/ Nito74.
2.- Jaymes Crowther/ Newfish.
3.- Mike Mortimore/ retiredmarine.
4.- Scott Sutherland/ Sudzonic ?
5.- Anthony/ Tojo72
6.- Jesper/ SGTJKJ
So, ask yourself: Am I man enough to wear white?==)
Allways remember that this is for fun.

There has been many UN vehicles in camo with only the letters UN applied.
Congo in the sixties for example.
Same goes for Sinai, Gaza and Cyprus.

I might be on for this. Been thinking about doing a ONU White Scout car from Kongo which had swedish crew members. I know that the decal sheet that comes with the Revell boxing is wrong in some plaices thou. Also doing a M8 armord car from Kongo have been in my mind for quite some time.

Thord: as I said before, I am no expert, so as long there is a picture to confirm the scheme, it is OK to post camouflaged ones. are you in?, you could be our 10th.
Jesper: as far as I know, IFOR/SFOR are NATO; it will be outside the scope of this campaign. but I think they will be an interesting campaign on they own.
If you are having trouble finding what to do, you should check the link Jaymes post http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=151353&page=1

You know, the fact that you are talking about peace, does not mean you can't carry a stick
this is an interesting conversion. what kind of AA is this? could they be available in 1/35?
