Fantastic job Rick ! I'm really impressed by the amount of work this build required.
Being a bit lazy, I just hope someone will release one in plastic.

Thanks!

No doubt as soon as i'm finished Trumpeter will release one in plastic LOL.

I have been asked how the ammo bins are secured to the turret baskets.

Quite simple actually, they drill holes in them and bolt them to the mesh part of the basket with large flat washers. You may also see cargo straps used to help secure them.

Started with the weathering, mainly using MIG products.

For the dried mud i'm using MIG Desert Storm pigments, MIG acrylic resin and some grout powder for some extra texture.

For the dust effects I use the same pigments with MIG's pigment fixer.

Still have some more dusting to do after I finish all the stowage and stuff

Looks slick, so does that Centurion sitting in the background for that matter. Are you basing your Coyote off a particular vehicle?

Fantastic job Rick.
I am guessing from reading your build thread that the Coyote is the recce version of the LAV3? if thats the case how different is it from the LAV3?
enquiring minds want to know

Thanks Trevor, i'm loosly basing it from this Coyote,...

for the most part anyways

Thanks Antonio and Walter

Thanks Dylan, the Coyote is based from the American LAV 25 / Piranha and not the Stryker / LAV III. They are two totally different vehicles.

I just noticed that the mirrors aren't mounted. Is that an in theatre thing or is it particular to this example?

Beautiful build by the way. i've learned a great deal just from following you. I've got the uparmoured version sitting on the shelf waiting for me to get the nerve up to do it.

Rick,
I like the weathering, pretty daring with all that mud! Would love to see her with a proper background once all is done with the stowage.

Thanks Mark, alot of the photos that i've seen and the cars coming in and out of KAF a good 80% don't have the mirrors or are missing one.

Thanks Nick, working on the stowage this weekend

Your Coyote is looking quite fine, Sauce. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time this year, so I had to put mine back in the box. It'll likely stay there until after I move to Edmonton this summer.

Maybe I'll have a chance to see your model in the flesh before I go.

Thanks QT,

It's funny, I just made a mold yesterday of that piece you need along with other things. I'm going to try to cast it now (fingers crossed).

PM me your address and i'll send it in the post tomorrow.

You planning a trip to K-town?

Rick,

It's been a realllllly long time since I've wrote anything about this but I'm really liking the way things have been turning out. I'm really looking forward your stowage and knowing your past builds I know that you might have some figures thrown in there as well.

Keep it up

Thanks Sean!

Just a quick update. Getting the stowage figured out with some jerry cans and tarps. Got the tow cable and barbed wire on as well.

Would be nice if someone would come out with some coyote specific stowage and the surveillance suite

Rick

No names no pack drill, but in the works............

Nice build, are you going to show the wear and carbon build up from the 25mm muzzel, looks like a panzer grey half moon, going from L-R, and casing chipping on the upper hull ?

I'm just debating whether or not to wait for something or just put some generic bags on it .

In my reference pics I didn't notice any heavy chipping on the upper hull, then again I don't have very many from above looking down. Can you help a brother out?

cheers

Rick

I was part of the initial product test team on the Coyote back in 1996-97 and have lots of photos and will find the right ones for ya and PM them to you on "daytime e-mail"

like how the dust has built up along the slightly rolled back edge of the black chevron. Nice touch. Slave cable...what a great thing to add. I think that's the first time I've seen it done. What's it made of? It looks shiny & right.

Thanks Anthony, I took this week off to burn off my last days annual. I'll be back on my "daytime e-mail" next monday

Thanks Graeme, it's actually a tow cable , here's some more shots of it.

And squished jerry cans.

Barbed wire.

And the cut in half 25mm ammo can exhaust deflector.

cheers

I've been lurking this site for a while and just now signed up.

I wanted to drop you a small note to say ..
“I really appreciate your post…It’s motivated me to get back into model building. “
I haven’t built a model since 1973, but I have set my sights on a M1128 and I’m wanting to add on Slat and the mine plow from AFV M1132. I think this attempt will keep me busy for a while….

Again…thank you for you post, I found it inspiring.
