Tony,
I'd love to take the credit, but it's a trick I picked up right here on Armorama the last time they ran a Sherman campaign! I've used it ever since.
I've been sticking my M7 hull details on today, and I've noticed that where there are two "handed" parts the instructions always list them the wrong way round! Thus, where it says to use "B22(B21)" implying the illustrated part is B22 it really means use B21 as shown, and B22 on the other side. While some of it is easy enough to spot and correct, items like the tail-lights are so similar that it's easy to get them wrong. Hope you've missed all these bear-traps!

Yeah Tom I caught those. Another one to watch out for is B37/B38 the gusset plates for the idlers axles. The longer gusset goes on top.
Hope you found this one in time.

Yup - those gussets, the air cleaners, the rear fenders - it seems like most of these mirrored parts are the wrong way round! "The Dragon tests the unworthy..." (And I'm certainly one of 'em!)

@wayne: Jeez, Callahan, Demagog is a mean beauty. That a Icecream stick for the board in front? Brilliant!!!!
@tony: Perfect, clean build. Just the right thing to bookmark soon as my M7 flies in...
Had to do some work on my planes to clear the workbench, so i'm lagging a little...

I think the Chinese post just ahead of mine needs to be deleted. I do not think it is part of the Sherman campaign
I am in for this campaign with the Italeri Sherman Calliope. Looks like an old, but nicely detailed kit.
More to follow later.

Hey Jesper
I look forward to seeing how you tackle the wiring for the rocket tubes on this one!
Funny how a foreign spammer has a better grip on 'you're' vs. 'your' than many of us...

Ok here is my early M4A1 with direct vision slots.
I have made the turret a General Steel version with relevant foundry markings.
The Archer numbering here is wrong, as the 3 should be an 8.
The siren positioned on the fender. The cable feeds into the hull.
I scratched the rear light guards to represent an early M4A1 style. The are a bit different to conventional types, and have an extra twist in the vertical steel bar through 90 degrees so they are parallel to the rear plate and turn in at the bottom where welded. They have two 'return' arms to attach to the rear deck behind the grouser vents.

Hi Brad,
Nice work,
I've asked for the spam to be deleted. You're MG shield looks a bit odd, or perhaps it's just my perception!
Nice work on the foundry marks and the rest too.

Ok, I added some stowage. The wading stacks, lack of dirt and dust, and stowage would depict the tank just prior to, or just after landing on the beach.

Hi Brad ..great work so far ...You're more into the foundry numbers than me ..I know my numbers existed but have no idea who built what ..Can you get a close up picture of where the siren wiring goes into the hull ...I have taken lots of pictures of shermans in my time but do I have one picture of where it goes??? of course not !!!
Cool job on the rear light guards ..I have never seen them quite like that (and I'm just lazy and I'm using the plastic ones in the Tasca kit ) but are you sure they fold back in like that ? What I've seen were twisted but welded straight to the rear like this...
I'm not saying you're wrong (see, I know how to use Your and You're ) but have never seen it done that way .
G ...your M4A2 looks great ..Just remember if you're going to add stowage you have to tie it all down ...

Actually Rick, no.
That's the reason for the rebar rail on the back deck. The tanks landed carrying just enough to resupply themselves in the short term.
Just after landing the stacks were removed, and the tanks moved as far as they could having been given their marching orders. On Iwo Jima this may have been as little as a hundred yards, especially on day one.
Those ammo boxes were "appropriated" by the grunts for their own usage also.

I'll have you know sir that is not a simple icecream stick, that is a bonafide custom, latte stirring implement.

Wow, what a great campaign! Lots of great tips, tricks, and advice to save for future builds.
Wayne, the rail really turned out nicely! Great build!
I finished a very simple base for my Sherman, and I posted photos of the completed build in the campaign gallery.

Lovely work Anthony, and the base 'sets it off'
Thanks for posting images in the Gallery.
A reminder for all.
Please make sure you upload your completed model images to the Campaign gallery, and you MUST also have posted in process images either in this thread or in the gallery for a campaign ribbon
Cheers

Great looking Sherman so far, Wayne. Looking forward to see more.
Bradley, the wiring for the rocket tubes will really be a challenge.
I have found these pictures of the loading of the Calliope. Not much wiring as I see it, but maybe somebody has better pictures or a diagram of the wiring?
It also looks like this tank has sandbag armour on the side of the hull, but not sure. What do you think? is it sandbag armour on the hull? It would be a surprise to me if sandbag armour was added to a Calliope.
Comments welcome

Ok, I made several attempts to upload my completed build into the gallery. The system says upload successful, however my photo never appears.

Got a bit more done on my Sherman II ...First off I had a bit of trouble fitting the the front hatches... I had to remove the inside rim all around the hatch so that it would sit deep enough ..I was quite surprised to see how bad they fit and no one has mentioned this in the reviews I've seen ...
I just finished adding the tools from Formation ...I still need to do some adjustments but they are in place ...
I added some texture to the hull and turret from Mr Surfacer and sanded it down a bit so as not to have too much effect as they are quite smooth most of the time ..
I also added the casting scar on the back of the turret by first adding a thin piece of stretched sprue and the using tamiya putty to build up the sides ..let me know what you think ...(first try at this )
that's it for now !
Rick

This happened to me last night, after much trail and error (and the you have been successful but I wasn't scenario). I found that if I compressed the pictures to around 500kb each, all went well.

I had the same problem last night with the same system replies. After much trail and error, I found that if I compressed the files down 500k each all went well.
Hope that helps and works.

That is usually an indication that the file was too big.
