Cheers Al.
I think it's only fair to allow pre-built tracks.

OK, clearly you've given us (or me anyway) too much time to think.
My latest idea, The First and the Last:
Right, as if I'll actually get ONE done let alone TWO!
I'm sure I'll change my mind again several times before July, but this is what I'm thinking right now. Hi ho!!

Michael,
With a year to run, the answer is of course "both"!

Having looked at my stash, I can now commit to at least the following:
Tasca Sherman III to be a tank from B squadron, Fort Gary Horse (Canadian 2 AB) as seen in Groningen in April '45 (AM decals & tracks...)
Tamiya M4 as H-2 "Hurricane" seen debarking a LST in Normandy June '44 (with lots of surgery & AM stuff)
Academy M51 Isherman built OOB - just cause it's neat-looking!
We'll see if the time allows others to creep from my stash...

Nice Tom,
this could be a real stash clearer for me also.
On a side note I've also entered the Movie / TV Campeign and plan doing Oddballs M4A3 with the Formations conversion !
Too many Shermans and too little time !
Cheers

Paul,
Stash clearance is a definite goal! My plands might have to change, as the Ultracast decals for the Fort Gary Horse are sold out. If I can't get them by kick-off that Tasca kit may have to become a Three Rivers Regt tank in Italy instead...

Hi Tom ...I'm pretty sure that the Three Rivers Reg. had M4A4's in Italy..The only sherman III's I'm sure about in Canadian service is with the Sherbrook Fusiliers ...there may be others but I don't have my references handy right now ..

Is there a good source for info on the M4 DV being used in Italy? The only web site I have found is for the 752nd tank battalion. It has a few photos but they are small. I sent Gary Holt an e-mail but he hasn't responded.

Hi Tom ..I just checked and only the 1st Hussars,Fort Garry Horse and the Sherbrooke Fusiliers were issued the Sherman III`s ..There might be a slight possiblity of a few Sherman IIIs being used in Italy because the Canadians were to take over the British shermans on arrival, but these tanks were in pretty bad shape and were replaced quite quickly with M4A4s...GGHG received Sherman Is and IIs while in Italy.

Rick,
Thanks for the info! I was misled by an incorrect caption on a front-on photo of a Three Rivers tank that looked to be with cast hoods but early 3-piece tranny. If only I could have seen it from the side...
[edit: this is where I found it.
http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/vehicles/tanks/shermantank.htm]Well, that settles it then - it'll have to be the Fort Garry Horse! Sadly the Ultracast decal set is long sold out, so I'm going to have to piece together markings from several Archer Transfers sets. That'll bump up the cost nicely!
(With a year to run, I might eventually get an M4A4 to do that THree Rivers beast too...)

I've got a Formations update for the M4A4 and it came with decals for a three rivers tank and I'm sure I'll get to that one soon too.

Neil, sorry about that problem you show there. I think if you had started last year maybe there would have been enough time.
That looks like a punishment more than an accomplishment
All I am interested in is how your finger and thumb tips feel after the build of that massive pile of treads
Good Luck!

Keep at it Neil !
Hopefully you'll be ready to start you build come July 1
I'm pretty happy, managed to get a new copy of the OOP "Polish Shermans Vol 1" (Wydawnictwo Militaria) on e-bay for a very good price
It'll be handy for by build(s)
Cheers
