Mechanix,

Wow! If that's "rushed and inaccurate" I 'd hate to compete against your really good stuff...

Can't wait to see how it pulls together!

Tom,
Thank you, that made me feel better about it.
The rear and side walls are up so maybe an update tomorrow.

I have been busy on this so a little update,

Please bear in mind this is only tacked together to check size, measurement and angles. It may change.
I am really sorry because this is fun and has been on my to-do list ever since the kit came out,but I must leave this for a couple of weeks and dash on over to the Softskins campaign before it closes and get on with my entry over there.
Thank you for the kind words Stefan.

Stefan,
Again thank you.
I was planning on taking an Italerai 105 out of stock
and I have an RB metal barrel for the 105 Sherman
somewhere on file. So with a bit of bodgeing I should produce something reasonably close to the gun and housing. Throw in some ABER P/E, new Tracks, AFV Club ammo Tubes and brass rounds and it should like reasonably nice.

I'm finally making some progress between work, work and more work. Now its time for the final weathering and then the figure.

thanks

Thanks guys. I've completed the weathering on the vehicle and have now switched over to painting the figure. I should be done in a week or so.

thanks

@Mecanix - Nice work on building your own model

@Potts - sweet halftrack. That's a great faded OD you got there.

My photos are missing ..
I got tired of working those guide horns on the tracks to be honest...
fenders / hull & turret are build, painted, decals too.
Almost finished but the tracks were wrecking my patience, sorry..

This next weekend will be quite sunny so I have plans to do a little photo shoot of all the kits at my workbench

Greetings all!

I've decided I would like to enlist in this campaign (admittedly, a bit late) with:

the 1/32 HobbyBoss F-84E. I plan a basically out of the box build including the box art markings (though I will be adding some photo-etch seat belts of some sort or another). This will be part of a series of kits I'm doing of WWII fighters and their jet follow-ups (P-38/F-80, P-47/F-84, P-51/F-86, that sort of thing) so I was really glad to see the HobbyBoss kit come along!

Already started preliminary painting, looking forward to being alongside of the great builds I've seen here!

Ok, I'm finally done. Here are some final photos of the completed project.

Enjoy and thanks.

John, I feel your pain... Single link tracks with two pin marks to clean off and the guide horns to fit... PITA.... Bring on some pics, mate!

Michael, welcome to the club! More air support is always a good thing! And we still have three months, so hopefully the campaign will get back in gear and everyone will finish their builds!

Kevin, really great work! The figure looks great too and the weathering is spot on.

Cheers everyone and keept the updates flowing!

Stephan,

Thanks for the welcome. Some great work here! I really want to do more armor but I don't have the weathering techniques down. One of these days I'll bear down and get to work on it.

Here's some progress on the 1/32 F-84E:

The HobbyBoss kit is a nice one and is going together well, though the Eduard seat belts took a little time (as per usual).

Michael, nice start on the pit!

John, I see you are a bit ahead of me. Keep on the tracks! They are a pest but doable.

Here's my progress since last time, very slowly but steadily. Very little time to build lately... Better get my a** in gear, not much more than 2 months going for this campaign!

Some shots before the tracks and details:

gun mantlet cover was made with tussue paper and Mr. surfacer.

Jig for building the tracks straight:

First track mounted:

New .30 cal fitted from Academy:

Final overall shot:

Sooo... next up the other track and the rest of the turret details. Then I should be ready for painting...

Cheerio!

Thanks Greg and Andy. Now it's ready for painting... Almost... One more track to do... Can't do more than 10 links at one time or I will go nuts...

How's everybody else's progress? C'mon people, let's get this campaign back to rolling!

Cheers!

Hi folks,

Some really inspiring builds going on here...

I'm slow slow slow with my MiG-15- recently had a gap filling mishap- I used Revell's Plastico modelling putty, but when it dried, it had receded a bit into the gap.

Rather than applying another layer over the top layer, I cut a corner and decided to put a few drops of cyano glue in the hollows, hoping that gravity would even them out a bit.

Unfortunately I forgot about chemistry and when I went back to it the next day, the cyano got the better of the plastico in the chemical street fight that ensued! The outcome was an evil raised rubbery substance that doesn't like sanding!

Anywho, @ Kevin- great job on your figure for the M16. Give yourself sredit where credit is due and put a few more close ups of the figure on the thread for us aspirant figure modellers!

You might try sticking it in the freezer for a bit to see it that makes it easier to sand.
