I presume start date should be Feb 1st 2011 and not 2010 as on the registration page ;-)
Thanks for catching that. Fixed.

Mike:
Well it appears now that with the Campaign name change it doesn't matter. Either way the LAV-R is allowed. It is an LAV type & an Armored Wheeled Vehicle. So your in like FLINT dude.
Allright!! I'm in for this build. [/quote]

According to Wiki I think BTR-70 fits the description.
Quoted Text
The BTR-70 is an eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier (Russian: бронетранспортер, BTR stands for Bronetransportyor literally "armoured transporter". ), originally developed during the late 1960s under the industrial designator GAZ-4905.
Gary, Thanks for your help getting this campaign set up.

I take my previous statement back Tony. I'm going to be joining the campaign with a Trumpeter LAV-R.
Would any of you guys have a recommendation for AM resin wheels for the LAV series?

Thanks for any help,

SAM;
And I thought I was bad about my Stryker collection. Now I dont feel guilty.
I would have to side with you on your selection of manufacture, tho. I chose to start my Strykers with the selection from AFV as well. Even tho Trumpeter has more of the types, I think AFV has better quality for the $$. My latest was the M1132 ESV from AFV. Much btr than Trump. Now if I could just collect the parts needed for an up to date Coyote or Kodiak. Looking fwd to one of your Strykers.

Just checking in. So far, all ideas seem good and I am looking forward to seeing the progress after we get started. I am "asking" for a few more stryker kits for Christmas. It would be fun to try to build 2 or 3 at the same time.
Any ideas for a ribbon?
Tony

I'm in with a LAV-TUA. But, I already started before I saw the start date. I'll have other LAV's in the works, including:
LAV-III
LAV-RWS
RCMP TAV-2
Great campaign!

I have got my Stryker Christmas list ready and given to my wife. Hope Santa brings at least one.

Kit is going together really well. When I think back to the AS-90 by Trumpeter, and getting high from having to use 1/4 tube of Tamiya Putty, this LAV-TUA is leaps ahead.
Main take away from the build thus far is that test-fitting and filing/sanding pays off. Not much putty used on this one at all.

I'll set it aside for now. Paint will go on once the campaign actually starts.

Tony would either an Sd.Kfz. 234/1 or Sd.Kfz. 232 6 rad be acceptable? If so, count me in. I would prefer the campaign to start by January, as I can't wait to get started.

Check with Tony before you work on it anymore. He may still allow your Centauro Even though you jumped the gun

The campaign has NOT started yet. It starts February 1. Campaigns that are running have their threads made "sticky". This means the campaign thread will always be near the start of all the threads.

gcdavidson;
Hey Graeme.... just curious. Love the build,,,but Why did you start before the start of the campaign. Or was this just a " To Do List" build. Or does ya have more in the wings for the Official start?

I thought the campaign had already started! Doh. No worries, there are more wheelie things in the stash if the mods have a problem with this one.

No, it's OK. Due to space constraints I only ever have one build under way at a time so carried on with the Centauro. Inspired by Graeme I've ordered the Lav III TUA for this campaign. Hope you don't mind Graeme!

That will work. I saw a nice kit of that by Tamiya with a motorcycle addition. Look forward to seeing the progress.
Campaign starts next Tuesday.

Matt,
Either of those kits would work.
