Nice ribbon -- I like it, simple and direct. Matthew, congrats on your new assignment! Do we get to expect Little Firstcircle's build contribution as well. Looking forward to the start of this campaign. Cheers -- Tat

@Sudzonic - Scott, firstly welcome to this campaign. I have followed some of your work and I know that you are no stranger to small scale. That being said and as for what to build, I am sure that there are some Hummer kits out there that you haven't yet built and would love to be part of your collection.
Cheers,

thanks Jan. I was eying up the new M1070 from Balaton models for this one, haven't done much work with resin at 1/72 scale.

Balaton, M1070! WOW, that would be an impressive beast. I've never worked with resin so that would be a fascinating build to see come together.

Thanks Stefan, but all the credit goes to Matthew (firstcircle). I have tinkered around a bit today with other ribbon options but my eye keeps being drawn back to the first one. It is therefore that I announce that Matthew's original has become the official campaign award. It has now taken it's place on the campaign enlistment page. Thanks again, Matthew.
As of today we have 24 enlistees, including a number that weren't in the Matchbox campaign. With still two months to go and all the campaigns currently going I guess that isn't too shabby. Once people start posting what they might be building I'll start my dreaded chart making.
Cheers,
Jan

Woo-hoo!! Thanks to Paint Shop Pro and their double-headed arrow... you know, I thought of the old "Strategy & Tactics" logo as well. You can be sure that wasn't done on a computer though.
Looking forward to seeing the lists starting...

I´m strongly leaning on to build some 1/72 armored railroad stuff from Unimodel but haven´t made my mind 100%.
Jan, for what's it's worth, I have several of them and have built a couple. They're good kits that need a bit of TLC. If you get the ones that have the RESIN MGs, then you're golden. If they're the styrene MGs.....you're copper at best, maybe lead.

Jan,
Before I officially enlist, I have a few questions. I've been working on my Italeri M1 Abrams conversion to M1A1 configuration. I posted a progress image earlier (at the beginning of this post), and below are a couple images of my progress so far.
Since this kit has already been started, is it ok to continue working on it or do I have to stop work until the campaign officially starts? Since I'm doing ALOT of scratch building/changes, do I have to build another started kit, too?
Or will this one unfinished kit qualify?

Mike, I believe that you have me confused with someone else. It was Kimmo (casualmodeler) that was the author of the quote you site. I have yet to see a Unimodel kit in any local hobby shops. For some reason there are just certain manufacturers, that while common in other locations, don't seem to make it to shop shelves in my area.

Jeff, I do recall your earlier post back at the end of July. At that time we were still unsure as to what form this small scale campaign would take. We'd be very happy to have you as a participant.

In all fairness, the rules are quite simple and specific. Rule 6 specifies that building is to be conducted during the campaigns' official operational period. So November 1st is the official start date.
Rule 7 is also quite specific in its requirement that two unfinished models must be completed to qualify for the award.
I appreciate that you have undertaken quite a project with the enhancing of your Abrams. However, in all fairness you would still be required to complete a second model to qualify for the ribbon. If you have some other unfinished model lying about, that would be great. You could also build a second model even if it was something rather simple and quick.
All that being said, I will permit people to "fabricate" parts prior to the start of the campaign. What I mean by this is that is that for example, one might create a storage box or container to be added to the model once the campaign starts. I would consider these unattached "parts" as virtually equivalent to a part on a sprue in a new kit. From your pictures that you posted I see that you've added quite a bit of details including panels to the hull. The model as it exists in those pictures would be your start point. You could pre-cut and size further panels or items but not attach them.
This particular campaign is rather different from most and will depend on the honesty and integrity of individuals participating in it. There is no way to stop someone from building 80% of a kit prior to the start date and then presenting it as unfinished. That is why the requirement to show build status pictures. If you have any further questions, I would be only too happy to address them.
Cheers,
Jan

Jan,
Thank you for the reply, and all of your comments are quite reasonable.
Since I am actually making progress on my M1 Abrams, I'll keep going on it.
For this campaign, I believe I will build a DML Jagd PzIV L/70 Early, kit #7307 that I have OOTB, or with a little extra work. Maybe even do a review/build report, too.

Jeff, if you are making progress on the M1 then by all means good luck to you. Please feel free to post your progress either here or in the Braille scale forum. If you aren't finished by the start date then it could be a second offering for this campaign.
We'd be happy to have you join and do the Jagd Pz IV. I would be interested to see that built as so far I've only seen the ones built during the Matchbox Campaign. I have an Italieri L48 version that I have been debating building for the Workhorse campaign. It looks interesting and even comes with two figures but is most likely quite a step down from the Dragon offering.

Jan

Welcome Maurice, you are our 25th enlistee. This campaign will be running for quite a while so you have an excuse to finish as many kits as you can. During the Matchbox campaign we has some people complete as many as four or more kits. It's all up to you. Just make sure that once we get going you join in the posting of progress shots and/or ask for assistance if need be. Just about half of those that have enlisted are successful members from the former campaign and I know they will be more than happy to help with any problems. These are a great group of builders and that can be evidenced by the 22 pages, 655 posts and 29,655 view hits of that previous campaign. Let's hope this one will give it a run for its money.
Cheers,
Jan

Hey Jan, I'll do my best. There are several kits here that need finishing (Tiger II from Dragon, Achillis IIC from Extrapack for example) so that would be an option, or I might just get me something new

Maurice, you aren't the only one that needs to do finishing or to decide on what to do. A few members of this campaign will remember my failed attempt to complete the Tiger F13 for the 88 campaign. Despite a lot of help and suggestions from members on Armorama I was bedevilled by a totally messed up rear idler on the Dragon kit. It was so frustrating that it sapped my will to complete the kit. This is how it stands at the moment.

It's been sitting in a box for a few months while I tackled other endeavours. It's only recently that I solved the rather frustrating idler problem. It was a pretty nasty fix but it appeared to work on the one track. I'll leave this one as is just in case I want to do two unfinished builds.

The bit of green is an experiment. I originally tried spraying but my old airbrush just couldn't meet my desired standards. What you see if done with a brush with a technique called side-loading. You use a small flat brush, dip one side into a darker green and the other side into a lighter version of it. Wipe off a bit on a paper towel, dip it in thinner and then brush. Needs to be done about three times per strip. It's a slow process but appears to work. My SWMBO is a decorative artist and she showed me the method. Made me practice on cardboard before I was "allowed" to try it on plastic.

Glad to here that you've made a choice, Scott. As I mentioned prior, it just seems like a good idea to add some more to your collection. There's that one fellow that has about a dozen different ones in 1/35 so why can't you be the Braille scale Hummer leader.
We are now up to 29 enlistees with still almost two months to go. At some point I'll be asking if people might want to commit to a particular subject or type of build.
I got a little creative and decided to start with my charts. Here's a list of all that have enlisted. If you aren't on the list then you haven't enlisted. We had a few issues during the last campaign of new people not knowing about the enlistment process. If anyone has any questions about it or the campaign in general, PLEASE ask in this thread.
If anyone is going to be doing completion builds, feel free to post pictures of the status of your unfinished works.
Cheers,
Jan

Made up my mind, I'm gonna finish this one:
Made a start with it when I bought it a couple of years ago, but the resin and photo etched parts scared me a bit back then. Didn't, and still don't, have a lot of experience with that stuff
Makes you wonder why I ever bought this kit in the first place...
And I'll probably do a small new kit on the side as well, some Airfix tank or something, straight OOB, just in case I may not finish the Achilles.

Hi Jan!
I can say, even in this point, that this kit will most likely be my choice. Atleast I don´t have to buy new kit but instead I can get one kit less in my stash, because I have been trying to finish more kits than buy new ones.

feel free to post pictures of the status of your unfinished works
Kimmo and Maurice, great to see two kits I've not seen before. The armoured rail wagon looks pretty strange, and the Achilles looks very over the top for a small model.
As mentioned previously, there's the pirated TX-40, half done from when I wasn't really making models at all (if you know what I mean) as well as the burnt-out Matchbox Protz that has previously made an appearance on this site, but after all the work I put in, really deserves to be finished. So if I do both of those, that would cover two completions. But possibly instead of the Protz, or maybe an as well as, I'm thinking of an old-fashioned type of conversion, like they always used to have articles on in Airfix magazine or MM.
The Isuzu TX-40:
Couldn't resist including some shots of the "fit-together pictures" - get the parts descriptions . . .
The bits still to go on (looks pretty normal . . .)
. . . but when it came to decals, the pirate manufacturer obviously gave up, and just went for some weird stickers, which I will do my best to resist using. I'm guessing you get the same sheet no matter which kit you buy as they seem to have covered all the bases!
The Protz:
The conversion I'm thinking of would use suspension parts from an Airfix Bren Carrier kit (30 years in the cupboard), united with the soon to be released Airfix Bedford QL, inspired by this photo from the super ancient Observer book of Military Vehicles of WW2 that my wife so thoughtfully bought from a charity bookshop:
