And because no campaign is complete without two guys building the same kit:
Jeff and Axel, that same FSM article mentioned that there was an older issue and a newer one, and I see that one of you has the Dragon boxing and one the DML. The way that author described it, good luck to whomever has the newer one.

I completely forgot about the different kits!!! Looking thru the box, my tracks look like the ones described in the article...and have the same dull gray color. I guess I have the new kit!
Guess it time to get sanding .....

Some more progress here folks, the major components are built and dry fit to aid in painting, and just gave the beast another coat of Rustoleum rattle can primer
If the Wall St. protestors behave this weekend I should be able to get the 1st coat of dunkelgelb on Sunday

Heres a few pics of the nasty pin marks in the track pads...a lil sanding and putty, they clean right up!
I glued one side of track together, left the drive sprocket and return roller loose. Now I can slide the track run off for painting!

I have really been itching to build this little kit, so it appears this is the perfect time.
The box cover:
Today's paper and the white metal parts (sans the barrel assembly-it's sitting on my desk):
When we deactivated the 42nd Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Polk, LA, I was selected to be a Gun Chief for the Salute Battery. That was a joy. Hope to find a couple pictures of that. Anyhow, I plan to do this one as one of the Salute Battery guns.

Anyway I digress - Here's how thigns stand at the moment with the 17pdr. I'm thiking of setting it similar to this pic,
I like the dug in setting. In the mean time....

Wow, the only place I ever saw these were in the Tamiya catalog! They made that kit plus the 7.5 cm leichte Infanterie Geschuetz 18.

Hi
Just looked at what ive got tucked away and came up with the following
Italeri M107
Italeri M110
Italeri M7 priest
AEF Soltam L33 spg.
My interest lies in Israeli stuff so think iam going to go with the L33 by AEF.
Its a basic kit with very little to no interior and simplified howitzer breech etc .
Dont intent to go overboard trying to add to many details, just enough to help make it look ok.
The L33 was developed by Soltam using their M68 howitzer a sherman m4a4 hvss chassis and a large box like super structure in time to see action in the 73 war.

What the heck!? Can't edit my own post? That's silly.
Well, all I wanted to comment on is that the elevation of the barrel is that way ONLY for paint. It'll eventually rest around 20-30 degrees in relation to the spade and tires.
More to follow.

I can't remember what the time limit is - 5 or 10 minutes maybe? I can't remember the reason why it was put in place.
