There are some colors that Tamiya should sell in pint size bottles
I am not sure in the case of the Dora that even those would be big enough!
Making very good progress on what seems to be an endless number of parts. The sheer size of the model makes getting photographs not that easy. Will get some sorted out and posted soon.

Some progress on the Italeri leIG18 I am building. The plastic is kind of rubbery and seems to resist the Testors liquid plastic cement that I use.

Gary,
I found that with a Minicraft airplane kit too. I tried Tenax 7R with some success (or was it Plastruct cement?). Cyano-acrylate is probably what we're supposed to use in that situation-- or would that react with too-soft styrene?

I've made alot of progress w/ the MLRS, working out the seams on the missle pods, and assembling the carriage inside the missle box. Finally broke out the paint on the cab...pale green ! hope to post a few pics this weekend!

Here is a couple of photos of the 1/35 scale DORA that I built a few years back.
It did take a lot of paint.

I REALLY wanted to get and build the 1:35th one but I was reliably informed by the oher half of this relationship that if I did get it I would also need to learn how to never sleep again, if only for my own personal safety. I am sure we all know from experience that hell hath no fury like a woman pwned so I negotiated building the 1:72nd one instead as a compormise.

Here is a picture of my progress.
The gun and carriage assemblies are pretty much done. I've put a coat of paint on but I probably still need to touch up places, especially on the carriage. The gun assembly is just placed on the carriage in this shot. That will probably be the last thing I do on the kit.
I still need to get rid of those nasty ejection pin marks on the inside of the wheels. Once they are gone, I can touch up the paint in those areas then paint the tires. Most of the assembly left is the gun shield.
Still a bit to go but I can see light at the end of this tunnel.

Sal,
I keep the DORA in my modeling room on the upper shelf that and it has about 4 inches clearance to the ceiling light. I'll try to remember to get a photo of it and post it tomorrow.

Finally got rid of the ejector pin marks from one wheel. Just need to sand the gouges and sanding marks. I have glued one of the upper gunshield parts to the lower. Progress continues.

Thanks Zon.
The instructions called for the PACK to have the trail "bent" the other way in the firing position. When we did the Salute Battery bit, all the trails were as I've depicted the gun. The other way just didn't look right at all.
About the only thing I really did was bore out the barrel. It only had a dimple to start with. I used a small bit to pre-drill, followed by a larger one. I took the bit down about 1/4-inch. So, the shiney white metal shows there. I added a small drop of black paint to the "back" of the hole. All in all, it looks good. Being white metal, it's heavy for such a small kit, but some of the areas are quite fragile.

Disaster was narrowly averted. I thought I had the carriage front glued properly to the shield but when I tried to see how the shield support arms would go between the shield and carriage, they were way too short. As it turned out, I had glued the carriage front too low. I was able to pry it loose though. The instruction drawing is quite misleading. I think I will deal with fixing this after I rest.

Just as I was gluing the shield to the carriage, the front part of the left rail of the carriage broke off just like when I was gluing the axle. I was cursing like a sailor for quite a while (including searching all over the carpet before finding it stuck to my sock). While the glue dries I will start painting the tires and finding places that the paint didn't cover on the other assemblies.

The repair held. The shield and support arms have been glued on.
Spotted more areas that need paint. Once those are touched up, I glue on the gun assembly. Once the wheel/tires are painted, I glue those on and it is done.

Hi Sal
The L33 kit comes with the upper hull as shown in the photo plus all the bits such as doors, hatches, spare tack, obviously the gun which is a bit basic but no interior.
The lower hull and suspension will come from an old dragon m50 kit as thats what i have plus this kit will have a lot of the detail parts needed.
I have made a start, had to replace some of the resin bits such as the hatches with ones from the dragon kit.
Unfortunately the suspension is very fragile in the way it is designed to go together and with my clumsy hands i keep knocking bits off.
Will post a couple pics later.
The gun is going to need a bit more work than i originally wanted to do, hopefully get some more done this weekend, also got a m3 scout armoured car on the go for the IDF campaign.

Tom, that's impressive and very big
Gary, nice work.
This is my railway embamkment, it's a Great North Roads product. I wanted it at an angle so cut a bit of each edge. I'll add some styrene to the base for some height, dig in the gun, cover things in plaster and then add some grass matting. Well that's the plan anyway. Haven't built anything like this for years.

Al,
What colors did you use for the railroad ties? I have about 3 feet of DML rail to paint...

The leIG18 decided to throw me one last curve. I stuck the wheels on the axle then applied liquid glue. One of the wheels promptly fell off along with the pin that went into the wheel. I think I have it glued on properly now although I have yet to see if that bond is strong enough and if the wheels are level. Grrr. I came very very close to chucking it into the wastebasket.
