Hi Gary,

Thanks for the extension, I have only just repaired the damage to my Morser and the possibility of finishing it by the old deadline looked pretty slim, now I have a month to make a good job of the weathering.

All the best,

Paul

Thanks to the extension I will be able to do this campaign after all. I'm going with an oldy but goody, Airfix 1/76 25 pdr and Quad. Judging from the price tag on the box I bought this kit about 20 years ago!! Here are some pictures:

Boxed and ready to start (note the time stamp on the picture. I managed to start 15 minutes before the original deadline ):

The sprues:

And some initial work on the Quad. This kit is definitely not for the faint of heart; lots of flash and sinkholes.

Well, I lost a part a month or so ago, but I decided to forge ahead without it and now I am calling it done, at least until I find it:

Mike, Good looking kit and a great dio for it. couple of little tweeks, the draw bar (the tow ring) should be in the down position and the hand spike beside it taken off. sights should also be removed while travelling. Again great job on the dio and Howitzer.

Hi Vance,

Nice work. My second 25pdr is still no further on but I enjoyed the campaign a lot.

BTW what's the end date now?

Cheers

Finally, .... progress.

Overall shot. This kit is needing lots of putty. The parts of the limber especially were a very poor fit. I also scratchbuilt some windows for the Quad, as they did not come with the kit. 8 panes so far (the lower windows had sliding glass), with the two-part windshield to be added once the roof is attached. I'll try to get some better pictures of the windows.

And since this is an artillery campaign, a close-up of the gun. I had to replace the barrel, it just couldn't be saved. I made a new one out of a spare Sherman barrel and some drafting tape:

Still planning on adding some details here and there before painting will commence.

great work everyone, a fun campaign to follow. i, unfortunately, will need a lot more time to finish my MGS than the extension provided. i tried the big push but this project will take me awhile.

look forward to seeing all your projects come together. cheers for the ride, bd.

A lot of times the gallery says the upload was successful but then rejects the file due to things like the file being too large. 3MB is the size limit (and sometimes it rejects files less than 3MB). You might try re-sizing the file using a graphics program and try uploading the picture again.

So it looks like even an extension may not save me this time. This project has taken on sort of a life on its own, partially inspired by Darren Baker's excellent write-up of the DML 1/35 25 pdr and limber. As I started adding a few details to the Morris Quad, I just kept on going. Each wheel received 8 lugnuts, and needless to say, after I did 5 of those my nerves needed a break. About 60 scratchbuilt pieces later, here is where I'm at:

I still have a lot of details to add, such as headlights, windshields and wipers, mirrors, and some details around the hitch on the back. And of course the limber and gun will receive the same treatment. It won't be completely accurate (the back end of the Morris, for example, would have to be completely rebuilt), but it will be a heck of a lot more detailed! It's amazing how much fun you can have with a kit that cost less than $5 and some styrene sheet and rod.

More to follow, hopefully before the end of the campaign. If not, I may turn this into a build log...

@ Mark v, sorry to here that you wont make even the extension deadline but is looking good and more importantly you are having fun
@ Paul and steve o like Gary suggested try to resize your photos and upload them again or you may not have enough space on your personnel pages and might have to make some room

OK guys clock is ticking 5 days left

Well that's me done. It's not weathered yet as it's going into a Normandy gun emplacement I'm working on for the Atlantic wall campaign. Not a bad kit to build albeit a bit fiddly at times.

Hi Karl,

It's the Emhar 18pdr. A very basic kit of about 12 parts, missing lots of detail.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the way it turned out although I should have taken a bit more time and researched it in a bit more detail.

Nice weapon for the emplacement you're building, which BTW was looking good last time I visited the campaign.

Cheers

Al
