I don't know what anyone else thinks, but to my eyes the way they tackled the sponsons looks a bit weak. For example, if we look at the left side with the tool boxes just in front of the exhaust outlet there is a visible gap. In reality the sponsons are made up of fenders with the tool boxes mounted on top, the boxes and fuel drums on this model appear a bit too square. I also think the anti radiation cladding looks good.
Major kudos though for getting the deck right. This is definitely a superb looking model and I will buy lots. But i'm not 100% convinced of the need to dump all my Tamiya kits and corresponding AM just yet.

I am absolutely delighted that this kit is no longer vaporware after all of these years. I am also glad that the one piece of miniarm conversion that I bought is the earlier 1992 turret, so no waste there!
Can't wait.

I wonder why there is two different colors of styrene? Or they are styrene??
Most likely to make the master they have taken some part from their other kits
Look for exemple the machine gun. Is the same of the old DML T-72 kit (but it looks quite good)

It seems to be acceptable detailwise. My only comment is that those side-skirts look strange. They are made of rubber on the real one and they are not that flat and hard.
Well, you're right, but according to the reference pics, rubber skirts don't look too deformed

It would be quite easy to give them the right shape

God....this kit loooks great......unbelievable, and by the look at the frame that protects the frontal light(don't know how it's called sry..), it's thickness is awsome!!!!!!!!!
can't wait for the future russ tanks like T-72 and T-80U from Zvezda(ofc the same quiality) and by the every spect of this model, zvezda's quiality beats trumpeter's T-64 in every respect
PS:Why those big factory such as tamiya or dragon release modern or cold war soviet armor these days, such a waste to the cold war market..
fight on zvezda, hope zvezda give the good lead of modern russian tanks!!!

Yes Andreas you're right. The TShU emitters are really great for styrene. The heatsinks are not bad at all.
Maybe it really is worth the long wait !

This looks really good! And with AM and PE, even better! This will really complement the great modern Russian resin figures on market.
