Question- is the Zvezda kit the same version that was used in Chechnya? If so, were they all green or with camo? I'd like to make this a combat one if possible.

Was it used in the invasion of Dagestan? Wikipedia mentioned the T-90A was used then and one was hit with 7 RPGs. Or is that incorrect?

I guess they must have used some in Georgian conflict?

although I have the feeling the russian high command rather uses their old (plenty) stocks of T62 and modify them for the occasion, or am i wrong an that?

hope to get the T90 in Jan here!!

Any combat T-90 would be fine with me, if they exist and if the Zvezda kit can be built as one.

Nope, none used in the Georgian conflict either. I think some may have been posted on the border following the conflict.

Frankly the Russians don't need to use the T-90, all their regional 'enemies' have far worse and outdated equipment, which T-72A's, B's, BM's and T-62's can perfectly deal with. The T-90 is pretty expensive as well (hence why the Russian military only purchased small numbers initially)

I think the T-90 may have only been used in combat a couple of times, perhaps in Dagestan ( I remember someone on here a while back said they had found some Russian government reports published somewhere confirming this). I suspect though it would be the earlier T-90 with cast turret, not the one Zvezda depicts

During the second Chechen campaign in the breakaway republic was again sent a large number of armored vehicles.
BMP-1, 2, 3 and BTR - 2324 pieces.
The tanks were represented by models of T-72AV, T-72B and B1, T-72BM, the T-62 and T-62M (160th Guards Tank Regiment, commanded by Colonel Budanov)
As part of 138th motorized rifle brigade of the Leningrad Military District were a number of T-80BV.
Tanks are only 370 units.

According to my information T-90 in combat in the 1st or the 2nd Chechen campaign not participated, as well as in Dagestan (it's the 2nd Chechen campaign). In North Ossetia, the T-90 in hostilities did not participate and there were none. In general, according to my data in North Ossetia, nothing newer T-62 and the modifications were not, but captured Georgian T-72. Anyway, the documentary evidence that I have not seen. Even after the conflict, 08/08/2008, T-90 tanks placed in the accommodation of close to border with Georgia.
Interesting site, though in Russian language.

Thanks a million Olegas and Rob for the useful and exhaustive informations

I've collected lots of pics about these strikes and I've never seen a T-90 depicted in them

Cheers

Oh and not to throw water on the fine looking release from Zveda but there is also the future release of the Meng T-90. Just hoping I'm not rushing out to get a kit that I should've waited for.....

I don't really care what Meng are planning, they have a cad drawing, Zvezda have a plastic kit (and an incredibly good one at that) already boxed and available to buy.

Judging by the photos posted online of the Zvezda kit, i'll have no regrets as soon as I have my hands on it.

Hello, are you sure about the use of BMP3 for the second war? I heard many time that a few BMP3 were used during the first war (there're a few photos of damaged ones) but i though that Russian didn't use BMP3 again due to its cost.

The collective assembly and search for information on the T-90. Already some small unpleasant moments during the docking tower and chassis.

What exactly can not say, not much information. The second campaign officially lasted almost 10 years, 1999-2009 was therefore very likely that the BMP-3 could participate if they are not in active combat, then the checkpoint entirely.
Here is a photo from Dagestan, although it is not clear for how long.

This article has some information on which to judge the fact that BMP-3 could participate in the second Chechen campaign. Try using a virtual translator who does not know Russian. ;-)

I hope to see some proper kit and get after an evaluation in deciding whether to buy, I tend to use Tamiya's T72 transformation. Is the right choice. This is just personal opinion.

Got my shiney new Zvezda T-90 on the 27th, and I must say WHAT A KIT. It is packed full of bits and has reallt detailed tracks. They are link and length but the teeth are molded seperatley in strips. No P.E. to be found, although I dont think you'll need it with a kit of such quality. Best part is the price, only £22.49, from Wonderland Models.
