Hey gang,

With the deadline looming and no response on an extension I've put a couple of pictures of the armoured Jeep w/ .50 cal in the Camapign Gallery. It's not bad but not where I like it to be. I've cleaned up the bazooka equipped Jeep but it's not quite at the same level as the other.

The second one!

And just for a laugh, the first captured by the enemy.

Good luck to all that are close.

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks Sean and Phill. As I mentioned, these little tykes are not quite where I'd like them to be but they aren't too bad. If the campaign had lasted longer I would have liked to have gotten another kit and done a couple of Soviet Lend/Lease armed Jeeps. I found a couple of pictures of them mounting a 12.7 mm DShK machine gun or two water cooled Maxim and my favourite, a Jeep carrying eight 82 mm rockets.

Cheers,
Jan

At Guido's suggestion, I added a dark pinwash to the gun, along with a bit of highlighting. The camera still doesn't completely pick it up, but here it is:

Zon, great looking work there, I really like the scratched/chipping effect in the bed and a nice deep blue paint job

Sal and Sean: Thanks for the kind words. I had some doubts, so thanks for the confirmation on the chipping.

Zon-I think the pick up came out great and the dark wash help quite a bit!

Thanks for you patience, everybody! I indeed needed all of my free time this week to push it across the finishing line, but in the end I call the HobbY Boss GMC 2.5t with 40mm of the French 2nd Tank Division finished. It is a good fun kit, but it does have shortcomings. In the end however, it offers good money value as it is. As there is little reference on these early conversions available, some of the kit's features seem to be conjectural.
If you are a die-hard modelling historian, there will be a number of things you would want to double check. For those enjoying a good modelling session on a not-so-familiar subject, this one is for you! Converting it to a truck serving in French Indo-China should be a great project, too. (Lots of good pics on the net for that one!)
The detailed build-up of the kit will be available in an upcoming issue of the German ModelFan magazine.
Thanks again for your patience and triple cheers for a great campaign!

Cheers,
Guido

Guido: Thanks for the additional photos. I love your model even more now! Your treatment of the wood is most excellent. What (who for) is the blue and white insignia on the ammo can?
