Roman: cool gun!! What is it and which kit is it from?
Here's my gun for my Meng pickup truck. This was probably the most finnicky assembly I've done in a long time!! Both the super glue and cement didn't seem to stick at all, except where you didn't want it to and none of the "pins" fit into any of the holes. Almost all of it was built twice do to parts falling off!! Looks good though. Hopefully it will hold together for the paint.

Hey, Hakan.. I really like how your Jeep turned out. I wish we had kits like that here in Egypt.

Some nice stuff folks....
My Meng pick-up arrived in the post yesterday. Hope to start over the Christmas holidays but it does look nice. I'll be following Zon with interest.
Roman, what kit is your twin-barrell gun from?

Sean: I look forward to seeing your Meng come into play. Overall it is fairly straight forward. The only thing I've been consistently noting with the black parts is that they are soft, sometimes don't take cement well (I use Tamiya extra thin mostly, so thicker cement might work better) and that many of the pins don't fit into their respective holes without some extra work.
Also, there might be one slight error in the instructions regarding the front wheel mounts. It shows B7 + B4 going the to the wrong side of the vehicle, conversly it also shows B5+B6 going on the wrong side. Also, it shows A10 "snapping" into place, but mine would not snap and will have to be glued once I decide how I want to turn the wheels. HTH.
I've completed the major sub-assemblies and begun to mask the windshield piece for painting. I think I will paint the "ceiling" of the glass the interior color, and not paint the ceiling of the cab itself. I will paint the interior side walls in the cab and leave the windows clear there. Then mask as normal for the exterior after it's all glued up. Not sure if this is the best method, but I've never dealt with this type of glass before, as usually it is 1 piece per window in most armor.
Anyway, here is my progress shot:

ok.. just enlisted in my first campaign... apologies in advance for the poor quality of the build
im going to have a crack at the meng pick up, mounting a dushka (possibly with a gun shield)
do any of the after market folks make any Libyan themed decals yet? flags and slogans and such? would be a nice addition to a vehicle
will post an in progress shot soon depending on if this rain goes away and i can get out fishing....

Not aware of any Libyan specific sheets yet but Archer do a few Arabic slogan sheets:

Looking forward to your build. Should be good with a Dushka. Can't recall seeing any with gun shields but I'm sure someone over there added one.....no 2 vehicles seemed the same on the news reports

Hello lads ,, been alittle while since i been around ..xmas and all that , now thats out of the way i have been a busy little dude working on my model for this campaign .. its coming along rather well ,, heres a heap of pics and you guys know me now ..theres quite a few
For those who i have forgotten .. its a Ural 4320 with a D-30 122mm gun ...... one its back
Now the pics
The gun mount wasn't able to turn 360 degrees ,, it can now
added a few extra details
now the base mounted to the tray ..from the reports i got of my mate this is as close to what he described .
gun shield
Barrel .breach and sights
Put together to see what it looked like
Few details added to the tubes above the breach
guns travel lock ,,this is pretty bang on the money to the real one
Didn't like the kits bonnet (hood) so made a new one from copper
Some tyre wear and tear
And what it looks like now lol
Right thats it for now ..will detail the engine alot .its terrible as it most things with this model so in other words its prefect for this model
Phill

Heya Zon mate .. Oh you don't know how close you are to your post ,, from the info i gathered of my mate he told me that the tray was twisted.chassis cracked thru on both sides ,had a rather serious inwards lean it did
The condition of the truck was bad to say the least .he said the engine was a mass of tangled wires and covered in dust . thing that did strike him as strange tho is this ..the seats ,,apart from being covered in dust he said they were in pretty good shape lol ..not even going to try to guess there .
Will look pretty good when this is done ,,i am enjoying this build .

Greetings all! I thought the idea of this campaign was great but like many, I had a few other campaigns that I was involved in. Now that they are done, I've enlisted. :-) My choice for the campaign will be the newer 1/72 Dragon Armoured Jeeps.
I partially built one of these as a build review that was started about the middle of November. There are two vehicles in a box and I hope to finish both.
These Jeeps were field modifications by the 82nd Airborne that were put together around the time of the Battle of the Bulge. Here's a couple of pictures from the review of progress on the first.
As you might guess, these things are quite small but the detail is very nice.
Cheers,
Jan

Got to start on this at the weekend. Not an easy build....lots of parts and very fine (delicate) bits. Plus the plastic is very soft. Very few of the locating pins actually fit in the hole they're meant to go in....
The gun is a mess....bits I left off or not square. But it's a technical: some of them looked very beat up! I'm hoping once painted and weathered it'll look the part.
The chassis went together a lot better but there is something about black plastic that makes it very hard to see what you're doing.
Anyway, progress so far:
More in a few days!
All comments welcomed

Just as a matter of discussion, why do the "Russian-made UB-32 multiple rocket launcher"s such as in photo #23 have stenciling in English?

Hey guys ,, well been playing around abit with the truck ,, there is so much missing on this thing its got to be there if you have the bonnet (hood) open and mines going to be open .,also redid the fuel tank ..the kit one is ok but not great . the bonnet hinges are nothing like the real ones so i have to make them too.
Guess the pics will speck for themselves
So here they are ----->
The engine's been started .still heaps to go here
Newish fuel tank
Steps got attention too and so did the exhaust
More to come soon once i have done more ..

With that level of detailing Phill I'll expect the engine to actually start!
Not yet sure about the level of weathering I'll do. These have been quite mixed in the news reports and pics I've seen. From showroom condition:
to pretty beat-up
Anyway, here's where I'm at with my Meng so far:
Cheers
