Jon the side skirts are made from rubber. Can't speak for Chinese version, but Russian are black in color, so i'm going to guess the type would be of the same color.

Amazing timing! I was just looking at some T-62 pics myself and saw those shields and was coming to ask the same thing.

Next question is, where would we buy some as AM addons? A couple of companies make PE versions of side skirts, but the only "saw tooth" (as I've seen it be called) version I can find is part of a Mig Productions' Iraqi T-62 conversion kit.
http://migproductions.com/2011/12/new-135-iraqi-t-62-conversion-kit/
Not sure if this was even released, but if it was it's now very hard to obtain..

Any one else know of a source?

To stay on topic:
I have finally started work on the turret, quite a bit done lastnight - Will get a pic taken over the weekend perhaps.

Alex I haven’t seen anyone make a set of photo etch skirts for the T-62 outside of the Mig kit. There's plenty of the Russian side skirts used on the M models from voyager, but none of the saw tooth style. They’re really not that hard to make from scratch, just cut them from thin sheet plastic or thin copper sheets found in most craft stores. You just need to make the square notch opening for the footsteps. Then just add the support strip the runs along the top and part of the sides. There is just one smaller short panel to make up for the longer length of the T-62 hull. The skirts just simply hang from the side of the fenders. You might even be able to get on the guys on this campaign that are build the Type 69 to send you a template of the side skirts in their conversion set. The Iraqis just used the same skirts from the 69 for their T-62’s.

Josip: that is good news from you , if we need more info then you can go and get it for us first hand
It would also save us searching the internet, and give more build time

Jon : as already said they're rubber and I would also go Tam Nato black, or if you have it Revell 09 Anthracite.

James : I'll try dude, I sure will try

Mike: my friend that is one cool looker , I especially like the girders on the glacis.

Alex: you can also get thin aluminium sheet, I have loads of it myself. This stuff is real soft and you get great
damage effects with it.

Christopher : do you happen to be involved with designing these vehicles
Your knowledge is just overwhelming, and it great to have that here in the campaign. Thanks dude

Hi Alex,

A quick scour of the internet and I found this:

http://www.zinnfigur.com/product_info.php?&products_id=10188752&osCsid=qi22aqbi1j3ace96bsc72lktk3&page=&sort=1d&ID=2202

No guarantee that they actually have any in stock but maybe worth following up.

Alternatively, I can do as Christopher suggests and post some templates of the Type 69 skirts onto the forum, that will just leave you to work out the dimensions for the small 'filler' skirt.

Jon

Cheers mate, I'll hold you to that now!

Mike, great to see some pics, she's looking great! I see you've detailled quite a lot of things (including a few bits I see I've missed!) would be great to see some overall shots to see the 'big picture'.

Cheers,

James

Almost Forgot!

Paul here is the photo I mentioned earlier:

Please note this is for discussion purposes only and is the property of Concord Publications.

Definately some influences on the Mig kit here, particulalrly the barrel and searchlight. May serve as some influence for those of you building T-69's too.

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

Thank you very much for the kind words, after seeing what you were doing I knew that the bench mark was very high!! As it is I've had to use a step ladder to even get close!!

As for some top shots of the "big picture" well they would show quite a few bigs holes to still be taken care of like a new main engine deck for starter's!!

I will try & up load a few more shots tonight!! I am also planning on posting more detailed info on what I am doing so far to her on my build blog Tamiya T55 that may show more!!

P.s great picture of the type 59!!

Cheer Mike

I'd like to join the campaign but I've got a slightly started Tamiya T55 (Some parts off sprues, road wheels assembled). Would that be acceptable?

Hi there everyone, Barry alias Dogstar wrote the he would like to join the campaign with started kit. He PM'd me saying that he has lost all pictures of the actual building stage and would therefore drop out of the campaign.
I have offered him that I would ask the rest of the players
if it is ok for him to remain in here, and just show the last stages (weathering general beating up etc).
I know it doesn't comply with the rules but what do you lads say?

Mike you are realy going for it now, cool build.

Mike I really how your T-55 is turning out I can see that your finally getting around to building the Libyan version with the extra armour. Are the tan colored parts from Tamiya?

Here's just a small update. I've used the fan from Afv Club's T-34 kit cut down. I'm going to have one of the vents open and needed something to show in the void.

Hi Paul,

Well my two cents say's let Barry in....after all we are in danger of getting over run by 62's!!

Paul , yeah I upped my snail quote'a & now have 10 pulling my modelling chariot along....or at least try too!!

Chris, yes finally getting going on her!! You are correct sir the tan parts were pinched of an Enigma, as the first attempt at the wiring for the lights & new spring in the hatch didn't end well, for both the parts or me LOL

I like the use of the T34 fan, as I have that kit's engine sitting in my spare's box

Paul,
I agree, let Barry in I like to think campaigns are more about comradery and fun than following rules.

Cheers Rob.

Yay!!
Thank you for allowing me to stick around.

I think I miscommunicated my kit's status to Paul as it's not completely assembled, closer to 3/4 done.

Tomorrow my wife works late so I'll be doing some building and I'll get some photos up for you folks to peer at.

I promised photos and even though my wife hid all the memory cards I figured I'd better deliver so the phone camera got the nod.

This is my current status as of the start of building today, I undercoated most of the kit in dark green before gluing down fender boxes and fuel tanks because I don't trust my ability to get in the nooks and crannies without laying down too much paint.

I have to give the wheels some gouges and repaint with nato black, they're just too shiny and too black right now.
