Christopher,
Only if you bought yours before last June. I actually was going to buy a IT-1 for this campaign but saw the T-62BDD and liked the look. I had built Trump's T-62 m.1962 kit a few months before that. I figured this one would look good on the shelf next to it. This kit is supposed to address some of the issues of that earlier kit.
Thanks for the heads-up on the decals. I should have some substitutes in the spares.

John,
A shame...we were approaching platoon strength. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how that conversion builds up. Likewise, I'm interested to see how Christopher's builds up with the those AM goodies. I'm not sure when I'll start mine.

If I clear my workbench... who knows, these 2 T-62's will look good next to my T-62 m.1962 I did awhile back.
So far working on the 6 builds is enough..

Hi all, here is the kit I am working on:
aaand it is rather crappy... poor quality mold with soft details. This is my first "limited-run" kit, so I guess its an education for me lol
Been working on the lower hull for the past couple of evenings... fitting is very poor, hence alot of "surgery" was required:
I had to cut up the hull sides for them to fit, and fill in all the gaps with tamiya putty
Will be filing and sanding those over the weekend
Cheers
Lawrence

Lawrence good luck with the build I had their 2S1 kit and ended up throwing it away cause the fit was so bad.
Alex, none of the issues with the kit were ever fixed. You can still see the angle is off on the rear deck, but once everything is built up you will never know it.
John nice choices, I almost went with the sp design kit my self. I have a tone of miniarms era blocks just laying around. Here is some good walk arounds of the real thing.

Hi Guys, well I'm back from Blighty with a tonne of Christmas shopping and a fantastic flight back through the winter storm "Xaver". That's what I call flying, a 76 seater turbo-prop going
flat out through 120mph winds and then a 15min. long thunder storm, the only annoying thing was I spilled some of my beer in
one of the larger turbulences
Mathew nice choice there, I'm using the same kit but with the Legend Tiran 6 conversion. There is a lot of etch in there
Christopher another cool choice you have there, I hope it turns out as good as your missile tank did
Alex great choice your doing there and OOB is often just as good if not better than some conversions
Jon the T69 will look lovely when done , and there won't be much of that evil donor kit to be seen either
John cool choice you have made, yet another extensive conversion . That a T62 trying to look like it's younger brother the T72/80, but I'll allow it in here all the same
Lawrence you're doing a great job there and don't let anyone tell you differently
Well it looks like the T62 has taken the lead I just hope some one brings a T44 to the party
Paul

I saw the storm in TV, glad you make it safe, sorry for the beer
I'm still considering entering 2 builds on this one.. The T-55 is my favourite tank. Let's see how it turns out.

Hi John, thanks dude. So you're thinking two builds eh ? Well lets see how the conversion of the Tiran 6 goes and I might add a T55 from Tamiya in a simple OOB build as well
and it wasn't too much beer that got lost, I had good practice in the 80's inside the Chieftain tank on exercise

Hey! I have great plans for that "evil donor kit" but you're right. If all goes well, then it will be well hidden under tons of photo-etch and resin.

Ron,
Sorry to hear that but I can definitely understand. I quit the hobby back in the 90s and just returned a few years ago. In my case, I found myself building the same stuff over and over, usually losing interest in it in the process. There was not much inspiration in it for me. I had to have some hand and back surgeries. While I was down for that, I decided to take a break.
I returned to the hobby by chance and I've set myself a series of rules to work with. I've mostly stuck to those rules and I think I've had a better go around with the hobby this time.
Christopher,
I thought Trumpy had fixed the issues. Oh well. I'm currently building a RPM FT-17 so there's an upside to just about anything I build right now.
Paul,
I tend to avoid AM resin and PE. I actually hate PE and will use styrene if I can. PE has gotten a lot better, though I think the manufacturers go overboard with it a bit.
Anyway, I'll probably start on my T-62 tonight or this weekend. I'm juggling a few campaigns at the moment. I might go ahead and start the turret.

Matthew, Christopher and Alex, 2 OTB and some nice AM stuff. Don't have T-62 in my stash yet but from some of the builds I've seen of them this year its in the top 10 on my wish list.
Jon, that a early Trumpeter T-54? Looks like it wont be that far off my Type 59D in looks with that rear BAR armour.
John, another T-62? that looks like some nice AM (love the t-54->t-90 with ERA, looks like they just mean business.
Lawrence, looks like a dog, wish you luck.
Ole, look good so far.
Well slight delay in my pics, but better late than never.
These were the wheels, not liking the mould seem in the middle. That's got to go.
To this. probably needs more fine sanding yet, will see how they look after some primer.
Also did a creative work on the exhaust cover, so instead of being flat its more corrugated as it should be.
So here's by current level of build. Not really that far but this kit has required A lot of clean up so far but could be far worse.
Also postman bought these on Thursday.

Jon, the build will all go well I am sure
Alex, you're feelings for photo-etch are mutual my friend , I detest the stuff and not only because I am closer to 50 than 40 . Resin is ok within reason
Ole nice start those tracks look fantastic Are you going to stain or paint them?
Andrew I see you "seem" to have sorted out the road wheels, good work. Nice looking exhaust cover there, but why not try and make one out of tin foil . You could use the plastic part as a template and bend cat or dog food lids or even old (empty ) tubes of mustard or such over it . It works great and it's cheap
Ok I have had a look at my build and must say I don't scare easily , but this is a lot of resin and etch :-
The donor kit, no probs here as I have already done one of these the Mod 62;)
Take note, the box art tracks
Now for the tracks themselves
I don't know why Trumpeter have added the T72 style track to this kit, but it's of no use to me .
I need the T54/55/62 type 1946 track, which I thankfully have in my stash
I shall not yet start as I have two other builds running that I need to get out of the way before starting this crazy conversion

Paul it's going to be a great build don't worry.
I was almost getting that same conversion but I saw Trumpeter's announcement of their own Tiran 6 ...
Too bad about the tracks but you got that covered

Just a few shots of the kit I am planning on using.
T-55A Tamiya kit, I plan on adding at least a resonable copy of the fuel lines and the screen bracket around the engine grills. I will be using an rb barrel, Accurate armour replcement mantlet with KDT-1 Laser range finder, Bison decals etc...
Not sure when I am going to start it too many presents still to buy for christmas!

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update on progress so far, oh and BTW thanks to Paul, John and Andrew for your kind words of encouragement.
So I thought that I would start with the difficult bit first, the photo-etch bar armour. Well, so far so good I think. I’m still on the lower slopes of the learning curve but am quite pleased with the results. Here’s two of the four baskets completed, apart from a couple of pieces of plastic-rod on each.
I have also attacked the upper and lower hull halves in an attempt to address the dimensional issues that the Trumpeter T54 series suffer from. Working in plastic is sooo much easier, especially when wielding the razor saw to do major surgery. Anyhow here’s a couple of pictures of the results of my efforts.
In each case an unmodified Trumpy is between a Tamiya T55 and my “cut ‘n’ shut” T54. Fixing the height issue also addresses the length problem too so it’s a win, win!
Next up, baskets number three and four.

After much deliberating, I think I'm going to do up a Trumpeter T-62 1972. I'm going to use an Eduard pe set and an old Aries BDD armour comversion that's been in the stash forever. It's made for use with the ancient Tamiya kit but after a bit of comparing, I think I can make it work. I know Trumpeter has a kit of this but I'd like to use up some stuff I've had in my pile forever. I need to figure out what to do with the Tamiya T-62s I have

Paul A that is a great kit there , I used one to scratch build a Tiran 5 and the only thing I didn't like were the rubber tracks
Jon lovely work on the PE . I hope my etch looks
half as good as that
Ryan check the tracks in your kit , in mine there are the T72 style which you possibly need.
Cam you should check those tracks dude If you're going "Valley of tears" and have the T72 style track that would be the wrong time frame. Or have I gotten something mixed up ?
Here's a little food for thought, it's a T55 from the DDR with the BDD style armour, thermal sleeve like the T72 and T72 style tracks :
here's another T55 without the add-on armour but with the T72 track:
I have some more pics from these dudes, some in close up I'll get them uploaded tomorrow. They are all in the Panzer Museum Munster, Germany.

Well I’ve started some work, not much. As usual I’ve replaced the kit’s wiring conduit for all the hull lighting. I’ve also added the missing lines for the periscope washers and covers for the scopes. I’m also planning to leave off the kit lights and cage on the hull. I’ve seen a few pictures showing them missing and will add some welds in place of the cage. I’ve started some work on the BTU and the cmk kit does not fit most of the mounting bosses as it’s meant for the Tamiya T-55 kit instead. The build is going to be slow since I start going back to college tonight and my down time will be little.
