I am not much of a modeler of Russian subjects but I was recently given some T 55 and IS 3 kits, built and unbuilt, by someone pruning his stash, so I thought I would give this campaign a go.
So I hope to use this,
and this,
together with these bits I picked up,
(Sorry I could only find Monday's Times)
To produce this;
An SU 122-54 which I hope comes within the rules

Since its built on the T-54 chassis I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed (since its technically closer to a Russian T-54 than my Chinese copy is. If allowed will be nice to see some variation.

Mathew,nice progress there
Mecanix, now that I have never heard, seen or dreamt of
After Googling it I found all of three pics, so yes you may build it .
What do you need the built kit for, the DShK 12.7 AA gun?
This will be a nice variant in here, get stuck in
Paul
Edit:
Operational Overview
This campaign is for anything built on the T54/55 T62
hull. So all of the following can be built in any scale for any nationality:
Anti-Aircraft - e.g. Marksman or ZSU 57-2
MBT´s - straight from the box
ARV´s
all that wonderful Israeli stuff
Rocket tanks - Tank destroyers armed with a missile
MBT´s with add-on armor - eg Yugoslavian rubber tanks
Prototypes - one must have been built and tested
And the father of them all the T44
The Rules and Regs
1. The base vehicle must be the T54 T55 or T62 chassis

Isn't resin horrid stuff to work with?
Here's a couple of pictures of my progress with the Verlinden Type 69 conversion set.
As you can see I've managed to finish off all the 'boom-bar' baskets and then attach them to the Verlinden turret. I'm not quite sure whether I should have waited to do this until after I'd fitted most of the other turret details but to be honest, I just wanted to get this bit out of the way. Soldering the photo-etch to fabricate the baskets seemed a breeze when confronted with the complex angles that you have to deal with when attaching the things. Plus, of course the perverse pleasures of coping with resin dust and cyano-acrylic glue...
Still, done now, so I can look forward to indulging myself with some easy plastic stuff when I start on the hull proper.
BTW, some of you guys have really stolen a march and are well into your builds. Those Trumpeter T62's look really nice kits, and I've one in my stash....hmm perhaps I should start on that too!

Andrew, Paul Thanks for your support.
Paul, No the SU uses two 14.7 KPVT,s and not the DHsK.
I have a couple of RB barrels but the casement AA gun will be one of the
challenges. The wheel spacing on the SU are diiferent from the norm so the built
kit has been reduced to its basics and I am now using the lower hull to practice
dealing with that.Basically feeding it into a band saw at each wheel station and
glueing the six separate bits
back together, some widened, some shortened till I get the correct hull length
and wheel spacing.

John : I've gotten the wheels cleaned up too. The tyres
sure look good but the they are a pain in the butt to clean up.
Jon : fantastic building there , if I had tried that it would probably look like it had spent its life as a hard target on a gunnery range
Mecanix : after seeing your Guinness armoured car I have no doubts to your success on this one either
Mathew nice progress, not much more and the paint will be flowing

Matthew: Boy, that MIG upgrade sure looks nice, especially the antiradiation pads.
Mecanix: never seen that SU122-54before and I look forward seen you some magic to that styrene.
Jon: Good work on that turret, requires a steady hand...
John: looking good
Paul: Looking forward to the Legend upgrade
Progress on the Enigma:
Turret almost done, DHsK and minor details are missing
Added welds for some of the extra armor
Exhaust cover is replaced by lead foil
Ole

Hi Ole,
the Enigma is looking great , I like the weld seems you have made. Are they stretched sprue?
I take it you will also soon be going to the paint shop
Here's my update, got the running on. Tomorrow will be paint before it gets too tricky for it:
Paul
Edit:
I couldn't resist, here is the first step into the resin-etch
madness:

Ole,Andrew and Paul again thanks.
Using the Tamiya hull as a test run was rather successful.
In fact so successful that I fed it back length-ways into the band saw to reduce it's width by 2 mm to enable the Trumpeter engine deck to fit.I think it looks more suited to an SU rear deck than the Tamiya with a bit of bodging.
I adapted the only drawing that I could find it's OK'ish in outline and the spacing works from photo reference so;
The green is Citadel Liquid Green Stuff, which I am impressed with, covering the cuts.it's not perfect but close enough for Government work and those I miss will be covered in mud, ah the joys of AFV modelling.
Next the Casement, back, sides and roof, hopefully over a quiet Christmas break.

Time to show some work I guess.
Bottom hull with add-on armor and suspension.
Rear. I left off the external fuel drums for now.
And the front.
Upper hull sub-assemblies and fenders.
I went back and started the roadwheels.
Paint for the roadwheels. I went ahead an shot a coat of flat black on the "rubber" pieces.
And that's where I am. They are literally drying in the next room. I'll tackle the tracks next.

John,
Glorious overall green. I thought about doing the camo scheme but I think doing it up in green just seems so Soviet Cold War.

John,
I like the BDD with the slat like that. I'd probably go raving mad trying to replicate that though. I'm probably going to stick with overall green. My last couple of tries at a Soviet camo scheme didn't turn out that well.
