Crikey! Some people are already done and I haven't even started building!

I stuck my neck out to build the Tamiya Matilda and now Osprey has popped out a "Modeling the Matilda Infantry Tank" book out on the stupid thing. i know it's major shortcomings (grumble, grumble), now everyone else will, too (grumble, grumble). And to think I almost sold/traded my Matilda to Mark Bannerman (author of the afore-mentioned book) a couple years ago.

I'm hanging in ... maybe I'll have to get the book.

Roo-very nice, interesting vehicle, ive certainly never seen one before.

Zero_cool-yes of course you can build it as part of a dio, that would be great!

Wartool-although others are building them, a universal/bren carrier should be fine,
if you do it in a different scheme, or markings etc.

its good to still have all the interest!

cheers

Hi. I'd like to join the fray as well. I have an old Testor's M4A1 Sherman calling for a desert scheme! Gonna be one of the Shermans from fighting at El Alamein. It'll be a vignette build.
Please let me know if I'm too late to join in or if there is a problem with my selection.

By the by, does anyone know where I can get a loose British Tank commander appropriate for a desert campaign?

Guess what? I have found my Matchbox Churchill AVRE kit. I will commence work on it and disregard the Airfix Crusader for some later build. The fates have been kind to me.

Hi, I've just started building my Bishop. I am using the Airfix 25lb gun as the gun, fitted with a metal barrel. Also I am using Fruilmodel tracks for the first time. Quite a challenge! What theatres and colour schemes did the bishop get used in?

#:-) Forgot to ask. Did the Bishop tow the ammo limber like the Quad would for the gun? Also my 11 year old son is entering, building a Tamiya Chieftain.

winchweight,

the bishop often did tow a 25-pdr limber, as internal ammo stowage was poor,
they served in tunisia and sicily with the 8th army.
usual colour scheme was sand, often with broad green stripes for camoflage

Great, thanks. As an aside, I've just run a search for cvr(t)s on Hannants website. It seems that Panda models are releasing a series of 1/35 models based on the cvr(t). At last!!! (:-) Anyone heard of Panda?

yes they produce some average quality 1/35 helicopter kits,

the cvrt series has been on their release schedule for quite a while now, without even any test molds etc appearing at model shows or toy fairs, so dont hold your breath for the time being!

My dio is in process. I've been researching the heck out of it first! The dio shows a sherman IIA of the 10th Royal Hussars (PWO), taking a break after the battle of Coriano on the Gothic Line. A kindly Italian partisan shares a bottle while his scratchbuilt friend tends to their mule.

I'm using the recent Tamiya release of 3 British tank crewman and a farmer for the majority of the figures, but I'll have to scratchbuild the second partisan. So far I've modified the farmer and may post pics here shortly...

This is going to be build along with the M1A1HA for the Abrams GB , 2

here you go goose,

http://www.mapleleafup.org/vehicles/cac/churchill.html

not a bad little site, some nice pics.

they were used from d-day onwards until the end of the war in europe, and then in korea.
they were taken out of service after the korean war.

they were designed to attack pillboxes etc on the atlantic wall, but after proving thier usefulness, they went on to be used until the end of the war, for supporting infantry attacks, being particularly useful for flaming out buildings

Where did you stay in Normandy? I am taking my family to Caen during the summer, and wondered where you'd recommend for a visit.
