Nice picture, but as said before sometimes the captions are not 100% accurate : the tank at the back is a T-64, not a T-62, let's believe its a typo mistake...

I do not have a hard time understanding the skepticism of people about Russia sending Ukrainian tanks back to Ukraine...it is a strange concept to Western thought.

Think of it this way: Russia sees this as taking back what it gave Ukraine in 1953...yeah, they are being dicks about it, but they NEVER liked the 1992 treaty that kept what was essentially theirs from them. And I cannot be certain, but the 1992 treaty might have been a big middle finger to Russia at the time. SO they are just taking over their property from some noisy neighbor. Now, they do not own the Ukrainian military equipment so they are shipping it back to its owners. Essentially, that is it.

NOW...the fact that they can stick it to Kharkov as well...that is a bonus.

ANd T-80 was not a KHARKOV design, it was a LKZ (Leningrad) design based on the T-64 (but to make it better with a gas turbine engine). Kharkov HATED the T-80 because it was a slap in their face that the T-64, which had legitimate issues, was not good enough. The Soviet High Command thought vigorous animosity among the design bureau's would produce the best designs, so this was a common thing. Heck, I think Kharkov just about choked to death when they were forced to produce T-80U's with gas turbine engines...(they made about 45 with ROCWS until Gen Ustinov died and they convinced the High Command to let them make a diesel T-80U...the T-80UD.)

Fair enough?

Oh, I I didn't expect to hear such opinion from the West, and it is right...
And I think, Putin used the chance to return our base, that is the reason of returning Crimea...

But Google maps doesn't want to see Crimea sa a Russian territory))) In my opinion, the next part of a film will be after the new Ukranian president comes...

Jacques: you are right. I cofused the T-80 birth-place.

I said I would presente a translation of the vídeo, so here go the main ideas:
1- They say the tanks were in the issue of the Ukrainian army;
2- They say they are being transported back to the Ukrain;
3- The say the unit badge is the logo of the Coastal Defense Infantry of the Ukrain.

A russian friend send me this link that shows the different logos including our misterious logo: http://sammler.ru/index.php?showtopic=34844

Here is something interesting, Russian T-72's just arrived into the Crimea area yesterday 31 March and are being off loaded from rail cars. Again when it comes to the media you have to take them with a grain of salt since their only trying to get ratings. But still interesting seeing their main tanks being moved into the area.

I'm sure more pictures will follow soon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=swyRqWAUi1I

Another mix of Russian/Ukrainian tanks.

Once we figure out which tanks are who's I'll update the first post will all the images sorting them by Ukrainian/Russian with some captions. For a better and easier viewing. I'll also host them on my photobucket acc so they don't get deleted from where they're currently hosted.

Kind regards,Sven.

I would also like to add my thanks to everyone that has posted photos of the Ukrainian and Russian tanks.

Interesting that the T-72's have a 'shine' on them to include the road wheels with no dirt at all, even though there is some pitting on the road wheel 'rubber' showing some wear.

Duane you can't scare your neighbors let alone the west rusty bucket of bolt tanks So they probably cleaned them up and slap some new paint on them to impress or slap NATO in the face........however you look at it.

Christoper, that is a good point. Look like a new tank and it must be a new tank to most observers. But how does it look inside, and can the fire control system even work?

How long it took for that (the paint jobs), and when was it planned? Were the tanks ferried over the Kerch Strait and then railed in, and did the T-72's come from the 58th Army that is in the Caucaus area?

A friend of mine and I have been discussing who has what types of equipment, OR (Operational Ready) rates and how an attack into the Ukraine may go....

The Russian tanks transporting in are supposedly T-72B3's BRIEF description.

(I know the photo in the link shows a K-5 equiped T-72, but I am not sure if it shows a B3 or the news agency screwed up. If you look up T-72BA there are a mix of K-1/3 and K-5 equiped tanks...sigh)

hello!
Exactly what do you want to know about Oplot, the real tank?

The July-September issue of the «Ukrainian Defense Review» has extended and descriptive articles about the Oplot, including interviews with Vadim Fedosof (General Director Malyshev Plant) and Oliksandr Veretennikov (Chief Designer at morozov).

If you can't find it, just send me a message and I will see a way to get you the info.

Hello, Andre! I was just wondering if the Ukrainian T-84 Oplot is or will be serving in the Ukrainian Army, general specifications, etc. I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a 1/35 plastic kit of the T-84 Oplot coming out soon- Is this true, and who will be making it? THANKS!!!

Hi;

The T-84 Oplot was A Xact Scale kit, it was announced some time ago. But its release was called back, the reason for the call back was not given. The T-84 if and when its finally released should be a Good kit, I am Hoping that they will give us the T-80 with the Arena System also.

CHEERS; MIKE.
