By September 1965 Bundeswheer received the first produktion batch of theire new MBT - the Leopard tank. This MBT was the backbone in many European countries during the Cold War. Now, 50 years later, it's still an essential part of the tank force in many countries. It developed through many versions and all countries have made their own peculiarities too; and then there are all special purpose vehicles too.
To commemorate this 50 year birthday I propose a campaign for Leopard 1 tank based vehicles. Any nation - any scale.

I have not done a campaign in a while, and this could be interesting. So ANY Leopard 1? Would ARV's be included?

Legend's Leopard 1A5 DK UN kit looks like it would be a fun build. I would defiantly be in I think.

Sounds good, and starting in September would allow to use the new Revell Leo 1 early batch in 1:35.

I dropped out of Campaigning a couple years ago, but this might tempt me back in! I have plans for a number of builds, including a gutted hull and "shop tractor" as seen during post-Cold War decommissioning...

Count me in!

We are gaining momentum here gents

I think starting at September and ending one year later - how does that sound?

As for the ribbon; I thought of the white ribbon with a black top and bottom line from the German WW2 tank destroyer badge as a background. On top of this in black a silhouette of the Leopard 1 tank with "50" in white??

Okay, colour me committed. I've never been involved in a campaign yet and as there's lots of time and I'm going to be building a Leopard anyways, now's the perfect time.

Cheers,

Chris

P.S. The ball is in your court now Bob.

I realize that September is a ways off, but I would think we need to keep this in play in order to get the people we need for it to qualify as a campaign. So..... bump....

We've now past the magic number of 10 which is the minimum for a formal campaign proposal. I need a little help with the ribbon, more precisely help with creating the ribbon. I imagine it as a white ribbon with a black line in the top and in the bottom - like the ribbon of the German ww2 hand-to-hand tank badge. On this the silhouette of a Leopard 1 tank in black with the no "50" in white. How does this sound to you?

Would Leopard [guessing you just mean the first one] what ifs be valid? Have been thinking of using the upcoming Leo 1 early from Revell as the basis for a Wehrmacht operated version.

Who's in??????

I need some encouragement to get on with some of my Leopard projects. I've just started my favourite Leopard (other than C1 MEXAS which I've done already) - a white UN 1A5DK with the Legend conversion and lots of Leopard Workshop goodies. How could I not?

I also have a 1st production batch Leo 1 and an Aussie ARVM on the shelf, so it's a good excuse to at least get one of them finished.

Count me in!

The rules of this campaign:
Only vehicles based on the Leopard 1 tank actually produced - single experimental/test vehicles accepted. Any variants, prototypes, pre-production, production types, "specials", nation and any scale. Unbuilded entries only. At entry a certain degree of authenticity in the planed model; type, nation and period. The model has to be finished within the time period.

Have I forgotten anything?

So would a Leo 1 in hypothetical Finnish colours be ok?
