The kit seems very nice indeed.
Looks like Academy has finally entered the 21st Century

Hobby Easy has it on pre-order at just under 35 USD / 31 €
current release date : 30 April 2016.

http://www.hobbyeasy.com/en/data/1uigrjkskfcty4o7ufhv.html

If it's as good as it looks it will be great value for the money.

At least if this becomes true, there would be more options to choose from, possibly each with their own little different additions and things.

I'm hoping it will show up sooner or later in my local Hobby Lobby and I can nab one with a %40 coupon. Our local store frequently carries Academy kits.

Well, it is happening regardless of what we say, and it is to consumers (our) benefit. This is nothing new - deja vu almost when DML, Academy, Trumpeter, Revell, Italeri, and Tamiya engaged M1A1 Abrams competition in the late 90's to early 2000's. They all came out with Abrams kit around the same time. Dragon eventually won the competition with the AIM kit. I anticipate the same thing this year - we shall see who wins.
I know that it was a joke but aren't X-ACT, AMT, LINDBERG, and ALANGER out of business btw? I don't anticipate Fujimi getting into 1/35 armor business.

Well... Given it's a great source of laughter, but in all seriousness, I don't think I'll happen. Trumpeter are pushing their russian agenda, Zezda is on the same path.
Bronco looks like a good candidate, but they seem to be one foot off the buisness and we still wait for their MRAP. Plus, Meng has the idea to cover all versions of the tank, so the others don't have too much time (but they've also promised complete T-72 line...).

It looks almost as though some parts of the kit (the gun barrel, the wheels) are designed for snap-fit or push-fit assembly, though I can't think the whole kit could be built that way. Probably just to make build easier.

I'll definitely get one - it looks excellent, and the price is right.

Yeah, FUJIMI's going to do a 1/700 SEP TUSK II- Get your magnifiers out!!! AMT and LINDBERG are still in business, making 1/25 cars and a few other diversified subjects.

Not too sure about X-ACT or ALANGER having gone out of business, but JUST to come out with ANOTHER SEP w/TUSK II, it's a good bet that they're going to resurrect themselves-

"Wait for I-I-I-T..." ZOMBIE TUSK IIs!!!

No seriously, I'd MUCH rather see an XM1, an initial M1, and a few other of the earlier 105mm-gunned types. Add to that a comprehensive USMC M1A1(Common) and a USMC M1A1HA...

Not too sure about X-ACT

Has anyone actually heard anything definite about them going out of business?

No. What I've heard is that Xact is a small company of enthusiasts taking their time to release a perfect model kit. I have their GAZ Tiger and I can say they came pretty close with that one.

Sprues pics show that two options are included for sprockets: each sprocket half in one piece, but without holes; or in two parts (split across the holes) that have to be glued together, but with holes. So a bit of extra work is required to get clean sprocket with holes (some putty may be required depending on the fit of those parts).
